Disability refers to any loss or

impairment of the normal


functions of the physical and/or
mental faculties of a member,
which permanently or temporarily
prevents him to continue with his
work or engage in any other
gainful occupation resulting in the
loss of income.

There are three (3) kinds of disability


which shall be determined by the
GSIS based on established medical
standards:
Permanent Total Disability
Permanent Partial Disability
Temporary Total Disability

When a member or pensioner dies, the


beneficiaries shall be entitled to the
following survivorship benefits
Survivorship pension
Cash payment equivalent to eighteen
(18) months BMP
Cash payment equivalent to one hundred
percent (100%) of the AMC for every year
of service with paid contributions but not
less than Twelve Thousand Pesos
(P12,000.00).

Survivorship Benefits of Members


in Active Service
. If at the time of death, a member
was in the service and has
rendered at least fifteen (15)
years of creditable service
. If at the time of death, the
member was in the service with
less than fifteen (15) years of
creditable service; his primary
beneficiaries shall receive the
cash payment equivalent to 100%
of the AMC for every year of
creditable service.

Benefits

Funeral benefit is intended to help defray


the expenses incident to the burial and
funeral of the deceased member,
pensioner or retiree under RA 660, RA
1616, PD 1146 and RA 8291. It is payable
to any qualified individual, in accordance
with the following order of priority
Amount of Funeral Benefit.- The amount
of funeral benefit are as follows

benefit shall be paid upon the death of
the ff;

a. interpretation of an existing policy or


procedure;
b. no existing program or system to process a
claim;
c. no existing policy as basis to process a
claim;
d. appeal from an aggrieved party to a
settled claim;
e. findings from either the Internal Audit
Services Office or the Commission on
Audit that are disputable; and
f. implementation of and Order from any
Court, quasi-judicial body or duly authorized
entity due to its being in conflict or
inconsistent with existing GSIS laws, policies,
