NETWORK SETTINGS

NETWORK MODE GENERAL FEACTURES OVERVIEW

Network Mode defines the relationship between the WIRELESS and WIRED
interfaces. It applies to all Altai device.
Switch Mode: The two interfaces (wire and wireless) are bridged together as
switch.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). This prevents broadcast storms in loop
topologies.
VLAN
Gateway Mode: The two interfaces (wire and wireless) are two different
interfaces.
NAT
DHCP Server
Statistic IP and DHCP: The device can be set the IP or learn its IP address.

SWITCH MODE CASE STUDY SWITHCH MODE + STATISTIC

IP (No VLAN)
As below diagram shown, the AP set as the switch and statistic IP, no matter the statistic
IP address set in the AP if same as the IP address in the backend for client to go to
internet, the client will still get or use the IP address from the backend to internet.

As below diagram shown, the AP set as the switch and DHCP, then the AP will get IP
address from the DHCP server in the backend, also the client will get the IP address from
that DHCP server.

GATEWAY MODE CASE STUDY STASTITIC IP

As below diagram shown, the AP set as the gateway mode and statistic IP, then you can treat
the two interfaces of AP as WAN and LAN. In this case, the Ethernet interface is the WAN port
and wireless interface is the LAN port. The NAT will be enable between WAN and LAN port.
The client will get the IP address from the LAN port (wireless) of AP.

Backend
There is only one or very
limit IP address for internet

Client

AP
For Eth interface, it is
WAN to connect to the
Backend, for the
wireless interface, it
provides the LAN IP
address to client.

The SSID is for

The client will get the

LAN IP address from
the AP

Also need to enable the DHCP server for the LAN interface in the AP, then the client will get
the IP address from this DHCP server.

Set the IP range for the DHCP

server.

GATEWAY MODE CASE STUDY DHCP

As below diagram shown, the AP set as the gateway mode and DHCP, then you can treat the
two interfaces of AP as WAN and LAN. In this case, the Ethernet interface is the WAN port and

WIRELESS SETTINGS

WIRELESS GENERAL FEACTURES OVERVIEW

A8n series and A2 series support 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio.
C1n supports 2.4GHz radio only.
C1an supports 5GHz radio only.
Radio mode: AP/Station/Repeater/Bridge
A8n series support AP for 2.4Ghz radio and AP/Station for 5GHz radio.
A2 series support AP/Station/Repeater for 2.4GHz radio and AP/Station/Bridge.
C1n supports AP/Station/Repeater for 2.4GHz radio.
C1an supports AP/Station/Bridge for 5GHz radio.
For 2.4GHz radio, it supports 802.11b/g/n, ng HT20 and ng HT40.
For 5GHz radio, it supports 802.11a/n, na HT20 and na HT40.
2.4GHz channel: CH1~ CH13
5GHz channel: CH36 ~ CH165

27

RADIO SETTINGS
Below is the basic radio setting for 2.4GHz radio, it is simulate with the 5GHz radio
settings.

Country Code: this code is about the

channel you can use. If there is no
channel limit, you can select
ROW.
Wireless Mode: it is set the wireless
standard for access and max speed.
Radio frequency: it depends on the
environment the AP installed, it can
be defined after the channel scan.
Transmit Power: it depends on the
power limit in region area and
target distance you hope to cover.

Enable this feature will make the

client associated to this AP can not
reach to each other.

Maximum Clients: it limits the max

client number can associate to this
2.4GHz radio.

BRIDGE SETTING

BRIDGE SETTING OVERVIEW

Bridge user the 5GHz link to link up two interfaces for backhaul purpose.

PTP: two devices use 5GHz wireless bridge to link up each other.
PTMP: one device use 5GHz radio as AP, then other devices use 5GHz radio as station to
connect to the 5GHz AP.

BRIDGE SETTING PTP BRIDGE

A2 PTP will be used as the example for this case.
For PTP bridge setting, those two A2 have to keep all wireless parameters same with each
other except MAC address.
