OPERATION
-Well fluid come in trough the intake,
in to lower diffuser
-Impeller push the fluid along the
opening vane to diffuser
-Diffuser lead the fluid direction up
and change the kinetic force
in to potential force or pressure
-Number of stage determine
head developed, and is also determine

Discharge head measured in the same FT, with different fluid SG are
resulted different pressure.
Measuring head in feet is important rather than measuring head in psi.

PUMP
HHP is output Horse Power that can be defined from the head
developed on the pump curve at any point of BPD.
HHP = Rate (BPD) x Head (ft) x SG fluida
136000 (Constant)
BHP = 60 HP
BHP plotted on the pump curve
= 35 HP
Pump efficiency = HHP / BHP
35 / 60 x 100 % = 58.3 %

PUMP IMPELLER
Type of the impeller :
- Floater, individual free moving to the shaft
- Compression, move all together with the shaft
Impeller construction design:
- Radial flow (Pancake), usually for small range prod.capacity
- Francis , usually for med. Range prod. capacity
- Mixed flow , usually for big production pump

STANDARD INTAKE
- Functional as a inlet screen only
- Does not separate gas
- Installed in the low GLR well
- Gas content less than 10% of total producing fluid
STATIC GAS SEPARATOR
- Also called Reverse flow Gas separator
- Gas separation done by increasing velocity by pick up impeller
- Effective to separate up to 20% of gas volume content in the
producing fluid

ROTARY GAS SEPARATOR
Fluid come in through the
screen, up to the Inducer
Inducer centrifuge the fluid
Centrifugal effect separate
vapor from the liquid
Heavier fluid move to the
housing, gas stay around the
shaft
Liquid directed in to the pump,
gas directed back to annulus
Effective to separate gas up
to 60% of total gas content
Iws/ Basic ESP- 2001
Gas Separators
REVERSE FLOW GAS SEPARATOR
Original gas separator designs were based on
Increasing gas separation by forcing the fluid flow
to reverse in the wellbore.
This is where the name of this type of gas
separator, REVERSE FLOW, comes from.
