HEAD DEVELOPED MEASURED IN PSI, (DIFFERENT SG

OF FLUID)
HEAD PRESS = HEAD (FT) x WATER DENSITY x SG
DN 2150- 100 stgs, rate 2100 BPD, head 2275 ft
SG 1.00 (Fresh water)
= 2275 x 0.433 x 1.00
= 985 psi
SG 0.85 (Diesel)

HP REQUIREMENT REFER TO SG OF FLUID

Depend on the fluid SG, HP requirement will be different :
EXAMPLE :
SG fluida 1.00, prod. rate 2100 BPD, pump DN 2150 required
motor 62 HP (from pump chart)
SG fluida 0.85 prod. rate 2100 BPD, pump DN 2150 required:
(0.85) x (62) = 53 HP

PUMP PERFORMANCE CURVE

HORSE POWER CURVE
Pump efficiency can be determined by the the equation :
HHP (Hydraulic Horse Power) / BHP (Brake Horse Power)

HHP is output Horse Power that can be defined from the head
developed on the pump curve at any point of BPD.
HHP = Rate (BPD) x Head (ft) x SG fluida
136000 (Constant)

Example : HHP = 2100 x 2275 x 1.00

136000

BHP = 60 HP
BHP plotted on the pump curve

= 35 HP
Pump efficiency = HHP / BHP

Please confirm to the pump curve

35 / 60 x 100 % = 58.3 %

PUMP IMPELLER
Type of the impeller :
- Floater, individual free moving to the shaft
- Compression, move all together with the shaft
Impeller construction design:
- Radial flow (Pancake), usually for small range prod.capacity
- Francis , usually for med. Range prod. capacity
- Mixed flow , usually for big production pump

Estimate Pump Up time

REDA Production Systems

Given : Pump DN 1750, PSD 7300 Ft, 2 7/8 EUE tubing,

SBHP 800 Psi, Fluid SG 0.95
Find : Estimate Pump Up Time (PUT)
Look at the tubular volume / 1000 barrel for 2 7/8 EUE tubing --------- 5.793 bbl/
1000 ft.
Fluid density

** Devine volume of empty tubing :

{(Vol/ 1000 Ft) x {PSD (SBHP / (0.433 x 0.95)} =
1000
{(5.793) x {7300-(800 / (0.433 x 0.95)} / 1000 = 31 BBL.
** Flow rate = 1750 BPD -- 1750 / 1440 = 1.215 BPM
** PUT

= Volume of MT tubing / BPM

= 31 / 1.215
= 25.5 minutes

ROTARY GAS SEPARATOR
Fluid come in through the
screen, up to the Inducer
Inducer centrifuge the fluid
Centrifugal effect separate
vapor from the liquid
Heavier fluid move to the
housing, gas stay around the
shaft
Liquid directed in to the pump,
gas directed back to annulus
Effective to separate gas up
to 60% of total gas content
Iws/ Basic ESP- 2001

Gas Separators
REVERSE FLOW GAS SEPARATOR
Original gas separator designs were based on
Increasing gas separation by forcing the fluid flow
to reverse in the wellbore.
This is where the name of this type of gas
separator, REVERSE FLOW, comes from.

ROTARY GAS SEPARATOR

Dynamic gas separators actually impart energy to

the fluid in order to get the vapor to separate
from the liquid. The original gas separator was
called a KGS (short for either Kinetic Gas
Static
Separator or Kobylinski Gas Separator).
This design uses an inducer to increase the
pressure of the fluid and a centrifuge to separate
the vapor and liquid.
This design could likewise be called a centrifugal
gas separator.
