FIRST FIVE YEAR PLAN(1951-1956)

THE MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS (FFYP)


B.C.G vaccination programme(1951)
A pilot project of community development(1952)
PHCs setup in rural areas(1952)
ANM training(1952)
Community development programme extended to national
level(1953)
The national malaria control , leprosy control& family planning
programme(1953)
The national water supply & sanitation programme(1954)
Prevention of food adulteration act was enacted(1954)
Nursing services & facilities, national filaria control programme,
leprosy teaching &research , change in hindu marriage act(1955).

THE SECOND FIVE YEAR PLAN(1956-1961)


AIM
To expand the existing health
services to bring them within
the reach of all people.

Insitutional facilities for both
rural & urban population.

THE MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS


Director, family planning was appointed at the
centre(1956)
The demographic training & research centre(Mumbai
1956, delhi kolkotta & madras 1957)
National malaria control programme converted to national
eradication programme(1958)
National institute of TB (blore 1959)
The school health committee was appointed by the
ministry of health(1960)
A national nutrition advisory committee was formed(1960)

THE THIRD FIVE YEAR PLAN(1961-1966)

To remove the problems
observed at the end of SYP
Focusing in rural areas

The mudaliar committee report was submitted & published.(1961)
Facilities for higher qualification & specialized courses(1961)
Provision of ambulance service for emergency medical care(1961)
The school health programme was started (1962)
A drinking water board was established(1963)
A committee was setup to study legislation of abortion (1964)
B.C.G vaccination without tuberculin test(1965)
Postpartum family planning programme was started(1966)
The central council of health recommended compulsory payment by
pts(67)

FOURTH YEAR PLAN(1969-1974)

To strengthen PHC network
in the rural areas

The family pension scheme introduced(1971)

A committee was setup to draft legislation on air
pollution(1971)
