INTRODUCTION

Root canal preparation is one of the most important step

in endodontic treatment.

During this step irrigants , dentinal debris, pulp tissue &

microorganisms may be extruded into the periapical
tissues.

Such extruded debris periapically, is one of the common

reason for post endodontic complication such as flareups, which is described by periapical inflammation, pain
and swelling.

Need for the study :

With the advent and marketing of newer

rotary systems, there is a need of an hour to
assess and compare quantitative extrusion
of debris periapically.

Aims and objectives

To assess quantitatively the amount of debris extruded

by three different endodontic rotary file system and a
hand file system.

To compare the amount of debris extruded by three

different endodontic rotary file system and a hand file
system.

Study Method
60 extracted human mandibular pre
molar were selected based on inclusion
and exclusion criteria.
Teeth will be subjected to pre procedural
ultra sonic cleaning.

Coronal access cavity will be prepared

using diamond burs.

Study Method (continued)

Study Method (continued)

All 60 samples will be divided in four groups

GROUP I

ProTaper
Gold

GROUP
II
ProTaper

GROUP
III
K3XF

GROUP
IV
Control Kfile

Study Method (continued)

Cleaning and shaping with the above
mentioned instruments will be done
according to manufacturers instruction.

8 ml of distilled water will be used as

irrigation solution for all the above said
groups

Study Method (continued)

After instrumentation stopper with the tooth will
be removed from Eppendorf tube.
Tubes will be stored at 35c for 10 days to
evaporate the distilled water leaving behind dry
debris.
Weight of dry debris will be measured using
electronic balance.
Weight of dry debris is calculated by subtracting
weight of empty tube from weight of tubes
containing debris.

Dissertation Hypothesis

Null Hypothesis: There is no difference in the

quantitative extrusion of debris periapically

Alternative Hypothesis: There is difference in the

quantitative extrusion of debris periapically.
