Child vaccination program in India is carried

under the Universal Immunization Programme. It
consists of various vaccines to be administered at
various ages. Some of the popular vaccines are
BCG, Oral Polio Vaccine, Measles Vaccine, DPT
Vaccine, Tetanus Toxoid, Hepatatis B, etc.

In order to ensure the reach of the polio vaccine to all and
sundry, the Child Vaccination Program in India
consists of the Pulse Polio Immunization program. This
program was started in 1995 to eradicate polio all
across India. Two doses of the oral polio vaccine are
administered to children below the age of 5 years twice
in a year.

This program was successful in creating widespread

awareness about the importance of child vaccination and
hence many people who were earlier reluctant about the
importance of vaccination came forward to leverage the
benefits. It can thus be considered as a substantial
landmark of the child vaccination program in India.

Pediatrics is also noteworthy. Established in 1962, the
organisation has endlessly work-horsed to contribute to
the vaccination scenario in India by holding seminars and
programs apart for carrying out tireless research.

society, most of the child vaccination camps administer vaccines free
of cost. Vaccination is extremely important to protect our future
generation also. Due to vaccination efforts, many diseases which
killed millions across the world are literally extinct. Children now no
longer have to take the small pox vaccine because of successful
vaccines against it.
