 Of the total number of enquiries received for all vacancies at the College in the
2006/07 period, 39% were for academic vacancies and 61% for support
vacancies.
 In 2006/07 a total of 175 enquiries were made in to 21 academic vacancies that
were advertised, 63% of these were from males, 37% from females.
 273 enquiries were made in to 23 support vacancies that were advertised, 49% of
these were from males, 51% from females.

 Of the 175 enquiries made in to academic vacancies, 134 (79%) application


forms were completed and returned.
 Of the 273 enquiries made in to support vacancies, 150 (55%) application
forms were completed and returned.

•Of all application forms received in 2006/07, 95% of applicants stated their
ethnicity.
•48% of total applicants in 2006/07 applied for academic posts, of which 97%
stated their ethnicity.
•52% of total applicants in 2006/07 applied for support posts, of which 94%
stated their ethnicity.

 Of 116 academic applications, 66 individuals were short listed, 39 (59%) were male,
27 (41%) were female.
 Of 169 support applications, 100 individuals were short listed, 52 (52%) were male,
48 (48%) were female.

 Of 21 academic vacancies, A total of 11 males were recruited and 4 females. (The


total is more because more than one person was recruited to a particular post, or the
post was unsuccessfully recruited to).
 Of 23 support vacancies, A total of 7 males were recruited and 15 females. (One post
was unsuccessfully recruited to).

risen slightly from 2005/06 to 2006/07 for males, but has dramatically risen in the
same period for females.

The chart illustrates that the number of applications made to support vacancies has
increased from 2005/06 to 2006/07 for both males and females, but particularly
significant is the almost a three fold increase in female applicants.

This chart highlights the overall increase in applications received from 2003 to
2007, with an expected increase in the number of white candidates (due to the
census of the College’s location), but also an increase in the Black Caribbean,
Black African and ‘other’ applicants in the 2006/07 period.

This chart illustrates that the gender balance of applicants shortlisted in academic
and support areas combined evened out in the 2006/07 period to a fairly even split,
as seen previously in the 2004/05 period.

This chart indicates that the number of successfully appointed white candidates
remains high, which could be attributed to the census of the College’s location,
but disappointingly a decrease in the number of successfully appointed BME
staff in the 2006/07 period when compared to the previous two academic
periods.
