Problem statement

How processing condition and

weight % affects the efficiency of
PPV OLED?

Objective of the project

Study of Light emitting polymers,
basic structure, functioning, and
factors affecting the efficiency of the
PPV PLED.
Recent research work carried out in
last 5 years and global scenario
Uses and application

Background (why problem statement is relevant?)

discuss with logic/graph/equations

One of the great benefits of the

Polymer LED lies in its low cost
solution processing capability.
But the device performance is highly
dependent on the processing
condition.
Example Emission spectrum of the
(MEH-PPV) thin film is greatly
dependent on the solvent and
concentration of the polymer

What did you find in literature with in last 5

years?--strictly focus on the problem statement

Optical and electrical properties of a spin cast PPV

film can be adjusted by controlling the aggregation
of the polymer chains.
The state of aggregation can be modified by
a. using proper/different solvent
b. Adjusting the spin speed
Hence, the improvement of quantum efficiency of
the polymer depends on the control of the polymer
aggregation.
Optoelectronic properties and device performance
can be greatly enhanced by copolymerizing or
blending with other molecules

What is your own analysis?strictly focus on the

problem statement here & compare the
literature

Conjugated polymers have been studied in a

great detail as a electroluminescent material.
There have been many studies on PLEDs in
recent years, and progress on efficiency and
stability has frequently been made in these
works.
The experiments on the upgradation and
modification of classical MEH-PPV structure,
with more active layers and blends are being
carried out extentively.

Future work-what you will look

for more? why?
How controlling the charge injection into the
polymer layer affects the efficiency in PLEDS?
Injection of charges from the electrodes into
the polymer occur by tunnelling through the
potential barrier
This barrier is influenced by the difference in
the energy levels of the electrodes, polymer
molecules and Eext.
This will give a better understanding of the
functioning of the PLED.
