Study Description
Results of the evaluation of the latest study

states the percentage of children with

Diaper Dermatitis ranging from 16 % - 70 %
Reports from a study of the different
variations of the maximum age , with a
peak of 9 to 12 months and 12 to 24
months
Clinical signs of Diaper Dermatitis at birth
appear and will appear at the beginning of
the first month after birth
According to one study , the incidence of
Diaper Dermatitis at the age of 4 weeks
ranges from 25 %

Prevention and treatment

Key of Diaper Dermatitis treatment lies in

prevention.
Prevention :
Routine change diapers
Reduce friction and exposure of the wet diaper
Replacement diaper 2 hours during the day

and for children older every 3-4 hours

Gently cleaning the buttocks area and using
creams
Routine bathing with warm water ( 37 - 40
C)

Treatment
The use of creams or ointments may protect from

contact with moisture and irritation

Use a material containing zinc oxide ( ZnO ) ,
petrolatum (petroleum jelly ) to the skin that is
irritated
Cleaning and drying the buttocks area affected by
gently patting and not rubbed
In some European countries using a solution of eosin 2
% after a diaper change
Other Ingredients : cod liver oil , dimethicone and aloe
barbadensis dexpanthenol
Lack of protective cream use and lack fekuensi diaper
change can lead to relapse

In the case of more severe if it fails treated with STEP 2

described above, it should be considered a topical

treatment (corticosteroids and anti-fungal)
Antifungal drugs : nystatin , clotrimazole , ketoconazole
The use of anti-fungal medications to control the growth
of fungi when candida infection is suspected
Topical corticosteroids are used is hydrocortisone to
reduce inflammation
DD Combination Treatment in the United States and antifungal topical corticosteroids(nistatin triamcinolone,
clotrimazole-betamethasone dipropionat)
If secondary bacterial infection required a topical
antibiotic

Conclusion
Diaper dermatitis is a common skin disease

in newborns and young infants. Occlusion

in diapers create an environment conducive
to the irritation of the skin. Begins with
damage to the outermost layer of the skin
caused by the components of urine and
feces.
The outer skin care cream and diaper
changing routine is an effective prevention
strategy
