We will deal with paragraph, read it, find some ideas or

topic sentences
Not just read, but read in details
You will study words, phrases, and their organization in
the form of paragraph
Learning is not boring, sometimes we will do some
interesting thing related to our study, so fighting!! ^^
You can freely ask me anything about this subject, dont
hesitate to speak in English in our class even though your
skill is not good.
Last but not least, keep focus on our study!

Scanning for specific

information
What does scanning means?
-

While you read the text you will find some important information,
but it is difficult if you have to read all of the paragraph and also
it will take longer time

Thats why we need to read fast or later we call it scanning

When you look for a telephone number or a name in an index,
your eyes move quickly over the words until you find the
particular information you are looking for. You ignore everything
except the specific information you want. Scanning is directed
and purposeful and should be extremely fast.

Why scan ?
-

In simple material : to find particular names, facts, words,

numbers, and specific information
In less simple material : to find services, data, resources,
when exact wording is not available
In complex material : to visualize and follow an argument,
style, reasons, motifs, patterns, support for inference,
evidence of sound logic/reasoning, evidence of faulty
reasoning, propaganda, and/or bias
On the web : scanning is a method often employed to sift
through the plethora of information available on the web

Tips for scanning

-

Read the question first, before you read the text

Move your eyes over the text seeking specific information
you need, like numbers (1,2,3), words and phrases
When scanning, look for letters or step (like : first, second,
next)
Look for words that are bold faced, italics, or in a different

font size, style, or color
