What is it?
The Taj Mahal, is the most celebrated
example of Mughal architecture, was built
as a mausoleum for the wife of Shah Jahan
after her death in 1631. It is constructed of
white marble inlaid with gems.

MORE OF AGRA
The city of Agra is situated on the banks of river Yamuna in the
northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Agra boats of being one of the
most prominent tourist destination of India and is home to one of
the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal as well as other two
World Heritage Sites, Red Fort and Fatehpur Sikri.

MONUMENT TO THE
LOVE
Was running year 1607, when the prince Shah
Jahan, inheritor of the Great Mongol Empire,
of 20 years; knew Mumtaz Mahal, whose he
fell in love hopelessly.
The city of AGRA- India-, celebrated this
Persian - musulmana princess's coronation of
19 years that she turned into the second best
wife and his emperor's favorite.

And they enjoyed a great love ... But Mumtaz


died while she was going with his husband in
Berhanpur in a campaign than the Emperar he
accomplished to quench a rebellion and right
after giving to light to his 14 son.
But before death the fact that he obey
these four promises asked for its husband:
That he construct his tomb;
That he get married again;
Than outside good with his children;
That he tour his tomb every year in his
death's anniversary.

Shah Jahan began the Rauza's construction ( tomb),


and it placed the construction in the river's benches
Yamuna in 1631.
Twenty thousand people worked at the work during 22
years giving form in white marble to an architecture
that fuses the Hindu tradition with the Persian musulmana.
The materials were imported from Makrana to 300
intervening- distance kilometers whit 1000 elephants.
The precious stones were brought from Bagdag,
China, Afganistn, Tibet, Egipto, Persia, Yemen, Rusia
and Ceylan to adorn inside and this tomb's exterior.

However, this monstrous effort had a high


cost in order to Shah Jahan that was living
once was maddened for its of love homage.

The economic Ruin once was provoked for the


eloquent work originated his throne's loss.
one of he sons, Aurangzeb, he hurled down
Shah Jahan and he shut to his father in the
Agra's Fort.

There Shah Jahan passed his life's the rest,


contemplating from the bars the wonderful
work to her as he dedicated his life and his
empire and that he is still today the India's
more shocking monument.

Taj Mahal's name, once was


translated generally as Palace of
the crown or crown of the Palace
is not more than the abridged
version of the empress's name
Mumtaz Mahal.
