Skinner(1953) and other behavioural theorists

would argue that there is no need for separate
theories of learning and motivation because
motivation is simply a product of
reinforcement history.
Students

who have been reinforced motivated to

study
Students who have not been reinforced will be
unmotivated

Intrinsic motivation -encourages the desire to

work (inner)

Extrinsic motivation - external rewards that

encourage someone to try/success

King (2008)
Based on intrinsic motivation as the factor in
competition, autonomy, desires, challenges and
efforts
Blumenfeld, Kempler and Krajcik,2006
Intrinsic motivation can produce positive behaviors
and toward mastery
Ryan and Deci (2001)
Motivation intirinsik produce improved
performance, creativity, and self-esteem

Bandura(1997) and Schunk and

Zimmerman(2006)
Increased student success when they set goals
that are specific, short-term and challenging

Specific and concrete: I want to get

3.9 at the end of the semester

CGPA-

Not specific: I want to be successful

Anderman and Wolters (2006)

A good strategy is to set challenging goals

TEACHERS ROLE

Students motivation may be thought of as patterns of

behavior and affect.

Perceived meaning is important in motivated behavior

Teachers need to communicate to students the lesson

objectives of what the students should learn

Enhance all students motivation based on a variety of

motivational constructs including academic self-efficacy,
attributions, intrinsic motivation, and achievement goals

Self-determination theory

lead to growth tendencies.

growth and needs that lead people to be self motivated.

the impact external forces had on students ability to remain

autonomous in their education goals.

Family and friends played key supporting roles

support from the learning institution proved to be beneficial

Adults who pursue their studies on their own (intrinsic motivation)

are motivated by their own interest, courage, and determination.

If they did not take certain strategies (extrinsic motivation) to

maintain their motivational level throughout their academic program,
they might have performed well

INTERVIEW 1
Everything based on ourselves
The people around us is just a thrusters.
Eg :There is a ladder in front of you, But without
the help of your hands how you going to move up?
Thus, whatever we are doing now , someday it
will happen.

The External motivation encourage us to study and

the improvement of intrinsic motivation is depends
on context of individual self.
Parents also are very essential because without
them we are not here.

INTERVIEW 2
Students learn to increase their knowledge in a
specific field.
Most of the students score a good results because
they are don't give much important to enjoy even,
they will work hard and give 100% effort to score
better.
External motivation is a necessary for a student
to succeed in life because the external motivation
makes them to plan well for a good leaning.

Based on her personal life, she studied well and

got high score in every semester during degree.
Example:

we

could not achieve something perfectly in live

without have external motivation but external
motivation will increase the effort that we need to
take.
a student also cannot survive without the internal
motivation because internal motivation is more
related to self confident or self motivation.
Thus, everyone needs a good external motivation such
as scholarship to increase our self confident to
succeed in studies.

INTERVIEW 3

Every students learn and work hard to score an

excellent results in their education
They really want to get an excellent results to
further their studies with scholarships-Unique
feeling
The external motivation (family suppot) also very
important for a student to achieve in life because
we will sacrifice our effort to make our parents
feel proud

Everybody have rights to choose their path itself

Thus, they can set an aim to achieve in life and
have to give full commitments
Furthermore, we could not survive if we do not
have a supportive internal motivation, which it
really help to identify our weakness and repair it
In conclusion if want something in a reality life,
we have to study. The external motivation
increase the internal motivation to makes us
