What is unnatural disasters?

Natural disaster is a natural event such as

floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and so
on, which have a major impact for the human
population. However, some natural disaster
occurs not as a result of natural mechanisms, but
natural disasters are triggered by human activity
that is initially aimed at progress and prosperity.
Carelessness, greed, and lack of human
understanding of the environment, causing
human effort which was originally aimed sublime
even have an impact that contrary to what was
expected.

1. FLOOD
Flooding

is a disaster due to high

rainfall is not matched with adequate
drains so soak the areas that are not
desired by the people who were
there. Floods can also occur due to
the breakdown of the existing
system of water flow so that the low
lying areas affected by flood
submissions.

Occurrence Causes Flooding

In general, the cause of the flooding is as follows:
a) illegal logging without reforestation
b) River silting
c) Disposal of garbage carelessly, either into
streams and mutual cooperation
d) Preparation of waterways that do not meet the
requirements
e) Preparation of dikes that are less good
f) The sea water, river, or lake that overflowed
and flooded land

Impact Of Flooding
Floods can cause damage to the
environment such as:
a) The destruction of residential areas
b) The difficulty of getting clean water,
and
c) Damage to facilities and infrastructure
of the population.
d) The destruction of agricultural areas
e) The emergence of diseases
f) Inhibit ground transportation

How to Anticipate Flood

To anticipate flood many things to do, such as:
Clean the drains of debris that could clog the flow of water,
causing flooding.
Dredge rivers of deposits to increase the capacity of water.
Build these alternative drainage routes (new river channels,
pipe systems) so as to prevent an excessive burden on the river.
No building in the region (area), which became the region where
the absorption of water.
Not to cut trees in the forest, because the forest bare would be
difficult to absorb water, so that in case of heavy rains
continuously water can not be absorbed directly by the soil will
even erode the soil, it can also cause landslides.
Create retaining walls and embankments along rivers, sea walls
along the beaches can maintain water levels in order not to get
into the mainland.

2. LANDSLIDE
Landslides

are ground down or fall from a high place to

a lower place. The problem is if there are people or
settlements on land or underground landslide that fell
then it is very dangerous. Not only to land that
landslides because of rocks, trees, sand, and others can
participate landslides destroy whatever is underneath.
Erosion caused by the river - a river or ocean waves
create slopes that are too steep slope of rocks and soil
saturation weakened by heavy rain caused earthquakes
cause pressure resulting in sliding of weak slopes of the
volcano creates dust deposits were deserted, rain dense
and dust flow from engine vibration, traffic, use of
explosives, and even that is too much heavy lightning

3. FOREST FIRE
Forest fires are fires caused by natural factors such as due to
lightning strikes, drought, her flow of lava, and so forth.
Forest fires cause extensive impact due to fire smoke that
spread to many areas in the vicinity.
Cause of Wildfire, among others:
human carelessness among others throw cigarette butts
carelessly and forgot to turn off the fire in the camp.
Deliberate actions such as clearing land for agriculture or
open up new agricultural land and acts of vandalism.
Anticipating way Fires:
Prevention of forest fires on forest management unit level
conservation, forest management unit production,
protected forest management unit includes:
a) Inventory locations prone to forest fires;
b) Inventory of the causes of fire;
c) Preparation of firefighters;
d) Establishment of a procedure anyway;
e) Procurement of facilities and infrastructure; and
f) Creation of firebreaks.

4. GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is a global

phenomenon that is caused by
human activities worldwide, increase
population, as well as technological
and industrial growth. Therefore,
these events have global
implications. Some human activity is
causing global warming is composed
of:
Energy consumption of fossil fuels.

5. DROUGHT
Due Man-Made
Drought does not obey the rules occur because:
The need for water is greater than planned due to disobedience
supply users on cropping patterns or patterns of water use.
Damage to the catchment and water resources due to human
actions.
Based on the classification of the drought, the drought disaster
management priorities tailored to the capabilities of each
region. Especially for drought caused by the disobedience of
water users and managers of water infrastructure, the
necessary commitment from all parties to implement the
agreements that have been defined. The community needs to
be disseminated more intensive, so as to understand and
implement a water users according to the rules / statutes

6. NUCLEAR DISASTER
Nuclear accidents or nuclear leakage is the most feared
impact beyond the benefit of nuclear energy for humans.
Nuclear meltdown occurs when the nuclear power system
or component failure causing the reactor core can not be
controlled and cooled so that the nuclear fuel is
protected - which contain uranium or plutonium and
radioactive fission products - began to heat up and leak.
A leak is considered very serious because of the possibility
that the reactor containment begins to fail, releasing
radioactive and toxic elements into the atmosphere and
the environment. From the development standpoint, a
leak can cause severe damage to the reactor, and the
possibility of total destruction.

Impact on Human Health:

This accident has impact short-term and longterm harmful to humans. Health impacts,
economic, social and psychological can happen to
humans affected.
Impact shortly or immediately after exposure to
high radiation exposure around nuclear reactors
include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and
fever
Some health impacts of long-term exposure to
nuclear radiation include cancer, especially
thyroid cancer, genetic mutations, premature
aging and disorders of the nervous system .

There are examples of natural

disasters caused by human
activity, as a reminder to us all
to be more able to maintain and
preserve the environment in
which we live. Where are they?

Lapindo mudflow Sidoarjo, Indonesia

One of the great disasters that have

occurred since May 29, 2006 is likely already
familiar to us. Adverse mudflow originated
from human carelessness while drilling the
Banjar Panji-1 well is the exploitation wells
owned by Lapindo Brantas Inc. Procedural
errors in the drilling process finally brought
great impact to the surrounding ecosystem.
Until the month of August 2006, there were
10 426 housing units and 77 units of worship
mud

Mine Waste Contamination in Picher Oklahoma,

United States

Picher, the most toxic places in the United

States, once a mining center with zinc and lead
content of the richest in the world. Underground
excavation indefinitely lasting more than a
century, leaving a pile of toxic metals in all
regions of the city is a result of the mine waste
contamination. Water containing toxic acid
seeping up from underground tunnels where
mining up to the river to turn red. Picher is one of
the locations declared uninhabitable due to
severe environmental damage due to mining
activities.

Shrinkage of the Aral Sea, Kazakhstan

4th largest sea in the world that lies between the

North Kazakhstan region and South Uzbekistan is now
receding at ten times the original size due to the use
of water resources without limits to the Soviet Union
irrigation projects during the past fifty years. Sea with
an area of 68,000 square kilometers was once was
once a thriving fishing industry. However, this
industry has been devastated by the shrinking
volume of sea water by more than four-fold. Not only
that, shrinkage of the Aral Sea has also resulted in
local climate change as summer became hotter and
drier, while winter lasts longer at colder
temperatures.

Gates of Hell (Hell's Gate), Turkmenistan

This event begins on natural gas

explosion as a result of oil exploration
project conducted by a group of
researchers from the Soviet Union. The
explosion formed a crater measuring 70
meters by 20 meters depth containing
embers still burning today. The explosion
also accompanied by the release of toxic
gas that ultimately cause environmental
problems.

CONCLUSION
Some examples of natural disasters
on top of a lesson on faux pas
committed by human beings. Before
we do anything, it's good if we
consider carefully the impact of the
poor in order not to sacrifice the
environment around us. Let's,
together love this earth, the home
we all!
