ICSS function test Presentation

Function Test Procedure:
The purpose of Function test as a part of commissioning activities to ensure
that the logic functionality, PID controller and all complex loops are operating
correctly as per project control narrative and cause & effect.
Function Test Principle:Once loops tests are completed, Function test shall be performed as
follows:
1)For Logic downloaded in IPS-EWS shall be tested by activate Logic input
trip signals and ensure that logic output is fully compliance with design
requirements and cause & effect
2) For PID controller &complex loop functionality test shall be tested from
EWS by activate process variable input, specify a certain set-point value and
ensure that PID controller Output is compliant with project design
requirements and process control narrative
Documents required for function test:
- Cause and effect.
- P&ID drawings.
- Logic diagram.
- Control Narrative
- Alarm variable table list (Instrument range, unit, alarm set-points)
2
- Function test check list

ROVs Test Procedure:

1) Call all ROV trip signals from Cause & Effect diagram

A&K Cause &

Effect

2) All ROV trip signals shall be forced to in normal operation from

IPS EWS (i.e, All trip to be healthy by force input signals logic ).
3)ROV shall be in normal operation (i.e, shutdown valve to be
opened, and blow-down valve to be closed)
4) Initiate ROV trip signals (one trip signal only) and record the
effect on ROV in function test check list.
5) Repeat steps 2, 3, and initiate second trip signal and record the
effect on ROV in function test check list.

ROV-210 Logic

7) Step 4 shall be repeated for all ROV trip signals

8) Check MOS functionality and effect for each trip signal

9) Ensure that ROV is closing and opening as per Cause & Effect

2) Pumps/Air Cooler :-

A&K Cause &

Effect

A) Test Procedure:

1) Call all Pump/Air Cooler trip signals from Cause & Effect diagram
2) All pumps/Air cooler trip signals shall be forced to in normal
operation.
3) pumps/Air cooler shall be in normal operation (i.e, to be running)
4) Initiate pumps/Air cooler trip signals (one trip signal only) and
record the effect on pump in Function test check list
5) Repeat steps 2, 3, and initiate second trip signal and record the
effect on pumps/Air cooler in Function test check list

6) Step 4 shall be repeated for all pumps/Air cooler trip signals

7) Check MOS functionality and effect for each trip signal
8) Ensure that pumps/Air cooler is running and tripped as per Cause &

B) Pump IPS logic Function Test execution:
1) Pump Logic will be verified based on cause & Effect.
A&K Cause &
Effect
2) Ensure that MCC pump drawer at TEST mode
3) Ensure that all permissive and trip signal are normalized.
4) Check Local/Remote switch at field and ensure that Remote
position is selected.
5) Select Pump at Manual mode , and start pump by using start
command in graphic faceplate, and ensure that pumps status
P-6155 Logic
(Running) is received in graphic display.
6) Stop pump by using stop command in graphic faceplate, and
ensure that pumps status (stopped) is received in graphic
display.

7) Repeat step 5 (i.e, Pump is running)
8) Initiate Pump trip signals (one trip signal only) and record the
effect on Pump in function test check list.
9) Repeat steps 7, 8, for second trip signal and record the effect
on pump in function test check list.

C) Pump (Duty/Standby) DCS logic Function Test
1) Pump Logic will be verified based on control narrative
and P&ID typical motor
2) Ensure that MCC pump drawer at TEST mode
3) Ensure that all permissive and trip signal are normalized.
4) Check Local/Remote at field and ensure that Remote
position is selected.
5) Select Pump at Manual mode , and start pump by using
start command in graphic faceplate, and ensure that
pumps status (Running) is received in graphic display.
6) Select pump at Auto mode, and check DCS Commands
(Auto Start/Stop) to the Pump based on Process variable
value and ensure that pump is auto started and stopped as
per process control narrative.
7) Check Pump Running/Stopping feedback and record the
results in function test check list.

DCS Function Test;

1)DCS Simple/Complex Control Loops Function Test Procedure

(Refer to DCS SAT procedure):

Closed Loop

1) Check signal scales are configured correctly in input block, PID

block, and output block.
2) Check each controller action is configured correctly either
Direct or reverse as per the Narrative
3) Check Proportional, Integral and Derivative values are
configured as per project requirements.
4) Check initial value of PID Tuning Parameters (P=100, T=1,
D=0)
5) Check the loop Logic sequence are implemented as per Control
Narrative.
6) Record all above results in check list
