Introduction
This is a reference manual of Global KOMTRAX Web screen for Customer user. This manual
contains the Web screen configuration, basic operations and descriptions of each KOMTRAX screen.

Required and recommended conditions to access KOMTRAX CFM

1) Hardware

(*) Since the display contents of KOMTRAX screens are more, they have been
developed with XGA(1024X768) as base. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the display to be
used should be above XGA. If a smaller display is used, then there are possibilities that the scroll bars
may be displayed.

Digital Certificate:
Customers do not require Digital Certificate as they can view only their
own machine data.
(*) when customers are provided with special access such as lock authority, digital certificate is
necessary. As lock function is critical and has to be handled with care , the screens related to lock
operation only be accessed in PC in which a valid digital certificate is installed.
Also note that, IE 6.0 or above is required for the above mentioned Digital Certificate . The digital
certificate provided by Komatsu will not support browsers other than IE.

3) Network Connection
Should be connected to Internet or Komatsu Intranet.
Internet Environment: Line speed of more than 1Mbps is recommended for
smooth display of Map.

ActiveX

KOMTRAX uses SSL encrypted connections in all pages.


Please set Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0 to ON in browser
settings.
JavaScript is used for operations in KOMTRAX Web. Please
enable the JavaScript in browser Settings.

A software called ChartFX will be used for graph display in


KOMTRAX Web. Please enable the Use ActiveX controls. The
downloading will be done only for the first time.
The session cookie should not be disabled, without session
cookie Komtrax cannot run.

Cookie

Cookie is also used for storing user environment. When storing


the user environment, the checkbox in the login screen is
checked. The cookie stores "language/data format/unit" selected
in login screen, operation mode of map, density of Fleet map, left
menu width, and so on.
If cookie is disabled, default value is used for these parameters.

A-3. Popup window Setting in IE for Windows XP Service Pack 2
Due to security reasons, the popup window is blocked by default in Windows XP Service pack
2. To enable popup window, please click on the pop-up blocked message and select Always
allow Pop-ups from this site

The popup window can also be enabled by clicking Settings button in Privacy tab of Internet
options of IE. And, specify http://ww-komtrax.komatsu.co.jp in Address of Web Site to allow for
enabling popup from KOMTRAX web site.

The Web login screen for KOMTRAX.


1. Select Language / Date Format / Unit from the respective pull down menu.
Language refers to the display language on screen and the user can select any language
in the pull down without any relation to his affiliation or location.
Date format will be in the order of Year / Month / Day.
Select the unit for distance Meter / Mile from the Unit pull down. On Selecting Meter,
the fuel consumption would be displayed in liters (L) and on selecting Mile, the fuel
consumption would be displayed in gallon.
(a) If the font for the selected language is not installed in the PC to be used, then the
characters can be displayed as junk. Please select a language that is compatible.
2. Input ID, Password that was notified by the Administrator in User ID, Password.
(b) User ID, Password are case sensitive.
In case of login failure, please check whether user ID, Password are in proper case.
(c) If this BOX is checked, then User ID and Language / Date Format / Unit that was set
in (1) will be set in cookie.
Please enable the Cookie in IE Settings.
When the Cookie is disabled or when this BOX is not checked, then the setting for
Language / Date Format / Unit will be reset to Default value every time.
3. Login will be performed on clicking the Submit button.
4. Notice for System Maintenance etc., will be displayed in (4).

1. KOMTRAX Login
1.1 Global Click through agreement
If the user login to KOMTRAX for the first time, then he/she will be navigated to
User Agreement page, when the user authentication is successful. The user has to
accept all the terms and conditions in the agreement to proceed with the login.
The agreement screen and contents will be prepared by the subsidiary depending on
their terms and conditions. The user can select the language using Lang pull down
which loads the screen with the agreement contents in selected language. After the user
accepts the terms and conditions contents, user should check the checkbox and click
the accept button, user will be navigated to the password confirmation screen.

1. Agreement contents are provided in languages specific to the region. If an option is selected from the
"Lang" pull down box, the agreement contents will be displayed in the selected language

3. Click the checkbox to accept the terms and conditions. "Accept" button will be enabled only after the
checkbox is checked.
4. Agreement contents can be saved as html file by clicking the Save as button.
Once the Accept button is pressed, it registers the user and navigates to the Password re entry screen.
Note: This functionality will be available only to the regions for which the agreements are received from the
respective subsidiaries.

1.2 Password Confirmation window
After the user has accepted to the terms and conditions of user agreement, he/she has to
re-input the user password and click on Submit button to navigate to TOP Menu.

1. User should enter the password again for confirmation.


2. Once the Submit button is clicked, it navigates to the top menu of KOMTRAX.
From the second login onwards the user will be directly navigated to TOP Menu, when the
user authentication is successful.

Top menu screen is the first screen to be displayed after login.


Functions are arranged as menu items and the user can directly get into the desired screen.
1.

Clicking this Management menu link will navigate the user to management menu access, where
the user can set the security area and landmark in the map. The user can use the management
menu access only when the user is given appropriate authority level by the Distributor.

To change the password, use this link which opens a Password change screen.

3.

Click the Logout link to exit from KOMTRAX application.

Menus on the Fleet Machine frame are the Customer fleet monitoring menus. Menus are grouped
by functions. By clicking any menu link, user will be directed to the respective screen. (Each menu
screen in Fleet Machine is explained in chapters from 4 to 9 )

5.

Menus on the Specific machine data are menus for individual machines. By entering the machine
serial number in the text field and by selecting any menu under it, user can open the detailed
information screen of the specific machine. When machines with same serial no. but different model
exists, then Model + Type will be displayed in the Inquiry Window. (Each menu screen in Specific
machine data is explained in chapters from 10 to 14 )

Notice for System Maintenance etc., will be displayed in KOMTRAX News frame.
Note: Menu can be expanded or minimized by clicking +,- buttons.

3.1 Menu Bar:
Other CFM screens are accessed from the current screen using the Menu bar.

(1) Top Menu screen is accessible by clicking the TOP menu from the Menu bar.

(2) Other Fleet monitoring screens are


accessed from the current screen by
clicking the Screen name shown under the
Fleet Machine. All the group menu names
are shown in Menu list with arrow mark at
the right end. The screen names are shown
by moving the Mouse over menu names as
shown in the right screen shot.

(3) Default common search conditions settings/result display column settings and initial
Screen after login settings and Selected Machine management are done by Settings
menu.

For detailed explanation, refer 3.7 Settings .

(4) Management menu: Management menu screen as shown below will be opened on clicking this menu.
When the Distributor (DB) set the special authority level to the customer user, he can create security area
and Landmarks in the world map.

Clicking the Top link will return to the CFM top menu screen.
5) Logout: To exit from the CFM site, click Logout button.

The user can connect to KOMTRAX again by clicking the To Login Screen link, or within
few seconds, Login screen will be displayed automatically.

3.2 Screen Mode Change (List only/ Map only/ Map & List)

3.2.1 Map & List Display

User should click the Map & List button to display the screen with Map and List.
The screen will be split in to upper frame and lower frame displaying Map in lower
frame and List in upper frame. Users can change the screen mode
to List only or Map only display by clicking the either of the button displayed.
The map will show all the machines selected in the search condition.
Note: The center button highlighted in the above screen will be displayed only in Map&List mode.

3.2.2 List only Display :

User should click the List only button to display the screen only with List items. The screen will
display more machine record list than Map & List display. Users who wants to view more
machines in the list can use this mode. This mode can be set as Initial screen display mode
using Settings menu. Please refer Settings Menu for details.
3.2.3 Map only Display :

User should click the Map only button to display the screen only with Map. The screen will display
machines in the map with 70% of the screen which improve the Visibility of the map. This mode
can also be set as initial screen display mode using Settings menu. Please refer 3.7 Settings
Menu for details.
3.2.4 Refresh the screen:
User can refresh the screen using this button, it will be useful for getting the latest Data displayed in the
screen. Updates are not immediately reflected in the list display. Clicking Refresh button will update the
screen and reflects the latest data in the list.

3.3 Search Condition:
Clicking the Pencil button will open the search condition window.

Search condition window has two parts, Common search items and Screen specific search items. Common
search fields are displayed in upper part and common to all the screens, Screen specific fields are displayed
in lower part and different in each screens.
Eg: Caution Screen has Caution items and related fields.

3.3.1 Searching Machines with Serial No. Range
Machines can be searched by specifying a range of Serial No. in Search condition for screen
such as Machine list , etc..
Guidelines for Serial No. Input:
1.

When specifying the range, the number of characters on both sides should be equal
with a - in between them.
2.
Multiple conditions can be specified separated by coma.
3.
Wildcard can also be specified in the condition. ? represents substitution for a
single character whereas * represents substitution for a character string. But the
Serial No Range and Wildcard cannot be used together within the same search
condition.
Some common WRONG Inputs for Range:

3.3.2 Date selection calendar:
Step 1 : Select the Calendar button at the right of the
date field. A calendar will be displayed below the box

3.4 Contents Tab:

CFM new screens are grouped by role oriented menus, Terminal condition, Working
Status menus, Machine Usage menus, Service menu and Notice. Navigation between the group menus are
simplified by introducing tabs, which enables the user to navigate with in the group screens.

3.5 List screen:

3.5.1 To view next and previous set of records:


Next : To view the next set of records.
Previous: To view the previous set of records.
Last : To view final set of records. ( Eg. Last 100 records in the list of 556 will show 56 records.
Last 100 records in the list of 600 will show 100 records.)
First : To view the first set of records.
(Eg. First 10 records in the list of any number of records will show first 10 records.)
3.5.2 Sorting:
The result data can be sorted based on any columns displayed on the list in Ascending and
Descending order. Sorting is done by following steps.
1)

Move the mouse cursor over the column to be sorted.

2)

At the corner of the column name, downwards arrow mark will be displayed.

3)

Click the downwards arrow mark, it will show Sort Ascending and Sort
Descending buttons.

4)

By clicking the required sort order, the list will be reloaded with selected order.

a) Sorting of list based on Delivery date. By clicking the
Sort Ascending button will display the list in Ascending
order by Delivery date.
b) By Sort Descending button will display the list in
Descending order by Delivery date.

Current sort column is highlighted as shown above (Eg.Delivery Date column).


Another method of sorting:
By just clicking on the sorting required column, will sort the list by Ascending
or Descending with respect to current sorting order.

3.5.3 Download Function:
Download functionality enables the user to download the result list data in to CSV format or Excel format. Users
are allowed to select the fields to download by themselves. User clicks the Download button and new
download pop up window will be opened.

To download currently displaying record, select Only current page. To download total records, select All
pages. Also the user has the option to download the data in hours or minutes by selecting Hours or min

To download the data in CSV format (Comma Separated value), select CSV option and to download the data in Excel
format (Excel), select Excel option.
Note: CSV Download: When the machine type is "5E0", then it is displayed as "5.00E.00". Some countries, the SMR
value (4555.4) is displayed as (4555,4). It considers period(.) operator as comma(,) and converts it automatically.
Excel Download: List items can be downloaded as excel files by which above stated problems are avoided. But size
of the excel files become big.

Download fields can be selected by


checking the checkboxes. Some
checkboxes are already checked which
denotes these fields are the currently
displayed fields in the list.

Click the Output button to download the


records. The download file name will be the
name of the screen.

3.5.4 Edit Layout :
In listing screens, only necessary display items can be set using Edit layout pop screen. Users
can select the required columns and hide the other fields using this pop up screen. This is
mainly to improve the visibility of listing screens by showing required columns and hide the
remaining columns.

No of display records: The number of records to be displayed in each screen can be set in this
screen. Maximum, users can set up to 100 as number of records to be displayed.
Display Items: For each individual screen, display fields can be set from this screen. When the
user login for the first time, by default some fields are displayed that are set by the Administrator.
Users are allowed set their own display settings here. After checking and un-checking the
checkboxes, click Ok button to reflect the settings in the list.
Note: In Display items, certain fields are common for all the screens such as Model, Type,
Serial Number etc. For these common field display items, settings can be done at once for all
the screens using SettingsTable Display screen. Please refer 3.7 Settings for more details.

3.5.5 List Result Items
To pin point and centering the machine

Centre button : When the user clicks any of the Centre button of a machine from list, the selected
machine will be centered in the map with a pink circle on the machine as shown below, to easily
identify the selected machine.

Note: This Customer Machine No. can be viewed by Distributor. Whenever the
customer inform the Distributor for any issues, it is easy to specify this Customer
Machine No. to search and find the machine easily. This number also appears on the
KOMTRAX reports. So it is recommended to register the Customer machine No for
each machine.

Machine types (Excavators, Bulldozers etc..)

List of Manufacturer names.

Model

Model name of the machine.

Serial Number of the machine.

Other than Delivery date and Altitude, all the above items are common items that are found in all the
list screens.

3.5.6 Columns size adjustments :
Column size can be adjusted to make the full contents of the column visible or decrease the
column size to accommodate other columns.

3.5.7 Clickable items :
In all the CFM screens, the items displayed in blue text are links and these items can be
displayed in slide in window. This functionality enables the user to view different related
information with a single interface.

On click of the Serial No of any record, the machines Attribute details are shown in the slide in
window. On click of the SMR of any record, the SMR details of the machine is shown in the
slide in window.
Note that the serial number link is commonly found in all the screens and the other screen
specific links are explained in each screen description.

3.6 Map screen:

Machines are shown on the map as blue icons. Initial display of the map will show all the
machines that are resulted based on the search condition. Number of machines resulted by the
search condition is displayed on the left top of the map.
3.6.1 Zoom in / out & Area Focus control:
Specific machine or specific area can be focussed to view more detailed map by scale
adjustment or Area focus control.

Click the + button to Zoom in. This control always focus the center of the map.

This is used as handle for Zoom in and Zoom out. To zoom in, click the handle
and move towards up ( +). To zoom out, click the handle and move towards
down (-)

Click the - button to Zoom out.

3.6.2 Area focus control:

Specific machine or specific area can be focussed to view more detailed map by selecting the
rectangle area inside the map. User click this button to enable the area focus control inside the

Basic settings for icon type, size & label are performed in this function.
Click the OP button on the control tool of the map. Map Option pop up will be displayed on the screen.

Machine icon settings:


Symbol: Three types of icons are available
now, user can select any of the icon. By default
pin icon is selected.
Size: Icon size is set using the 2 options Auto
and Select.
When option Auto is selected , map controls
the size of the icon automatically with respect
to the scale of the map.
User can select the size of icon from the select
box. Icon will be displayed in the selected size
not respect to the scale of the map. By default,

Label: Settings to display the icon with label on

icon will be displayed without any title on it.

3.6.4 Map appearance settings :
Basic settings for contrast of Map by increasing and decreasing the density of the Map. The purpose
of this settings is mainly to distinguish machine icon from other items displayed in the map. Map in
detailed scale will display Highway names, Street names, Highway poles etc. in dark blue, red and
yellow colors. The color of the icons used in CFM map also in Red, Blue and Yellow. To make the
icon bright and make the map lighter, the color variation is done by this settings.

In this map, icon color and highway colors are red, it may have some difficulty in identifying the machine.
Click the darker button will increase the icon brightness and decrease the contrast of the map lighter.

After adjusting the brightness, machine icons becomes more visible with lighter contrast of the Map.

3.7.4 Selected Machines:
This function allows the user to pick selected machine to monitor or give special attention by registering these
machines as Private group or newly registered group. By registering fleet of machines in a group, enables
the user to easily search these machines using Selected Machine search criteria. User can create a group
and register the required machines by enabling the check box in the machine list. After registering the
selected machines, every list screen search condition have the selected group name in the options, so that
user can easily filter the list of machines by simply selecting the group name from the option and list the
selected machines.

3.7.4.1 Create & Modifying Groups:


User can create groups for selected machines by clicking the Edit Selected machine Group from
Selected Machine menu. By clicking the menu, Selected Machine window will appear with list of existing
groups.
Note that this Edit Selected machine Group menu will be displayed only for users who are given the
Edit Selected machine Group authority by Distributors .

7.1 Daily Working Status
The daily working status data of the machines are displayed in a list.
Customer can view the daily working status of the machines with total sum on each day. Working
status of machine shows "Working hours", "Actual working hours", "Actual working ratio" and
"Fuel consumption". Customer can select the target month on which the daily working status to be
viewed.

Grand total display
The grand total can be displayed or hidden by the user by checking or un-checking the Show
Grand Total checkbox in the screen.

When the Show Grand Total checkbox is checked, user can view the Total working hours, Average
working hours and total fuel consumption in a month for all the machines (in all pages) displayed as per
the filter condition.

In the above screen, the display items that are set in the Edit layout window are displayed by
default. User can set the other additional display items by clicking the Edit layout link(refer section

15.1 CFM screen access from iPad
The following has to be noted when the users access the KOMTRAX CFM screens from ipad.
Download button in machine list
The download function will not work in iPad, though the user can see the Download links in all
machine list screens.
Map Display
The map reload may take more time or stops responding, when zoom up/down operation is done
continuously or the scale in the map is changed. When there is no response for long time, please go
back to the machine list screen and retry the map display once again.
Also note that you cannot access CFM from PC using safari browser. Only iPad safari browser is
supported by CFM.
