General Information :
The auditorium is used all through the year by Apex Bank officials for
various seminars and conferences.
This means the air conditioning is used all through the year except in
the peak winters when the cooling is avoided.
It has a total seating capacity of around 600 persons at two different
levels with the ground level housing 500 and the balcony housing 100
persons.
There are total 5 sections of seating two large at the ground level and
three at the balcony level and a projector room at the back of the
balcony.

SECTION XX
Target Volume = 2800 cubic meters (approx.)
Required cooling = 100 tons (as per thumb rules)
Available cooling = 120 tons (two compressors 60 tons each)
Sufficient cooling is provided as the insulated and sound proof
volumes require extra cooling.

nents of the Central Air Conditioning Water Chilled System

r main components that we found in the system were :

Plant room - Electrical panel ( 200A, 415 V)
d
Basement) - The Chiller cage including :
1) 2 Compressors (3 Pair of pistons, 10 ton each, Total 120
2) 2 Condensers
3) 1 Chiller
4) 1 Expansion valve
- 2 Chilled water pumps, 2 Condenser pumps
- The connecting pipes

2 AHUs ( Air Handling Unit) - The Cooling Coil

- The Blower with its motor
- The Dampers
- The supply and the return air ducts
- The supply and return pipes from the Chille

Duct system and the diffusers in the auditoriums false ceiling.

THE AIR FLOW ANIMATION

Issues:
There were maintenance issues found, there were leakages at
pipe connections at few places like the condenser pump.
The water was not treated well.
The cooling tower was not cleaned properly.
The filter was not cleaned.
During usage people complained about the extra cooling and
the compressors were turned off during an event.
There was a big space constraint in the AHUs for the
monitoring personnel.
Conclusions:
The overall efficiency and working of the system suits the
requirement of the Bank.
The initial cost was high but the overall saving during the
course of years is sufficient.
High maintenance and most essentially skilled monitoring of
the system is indispensable.
The systems are rated to last 25 years with regular
maintenance.
The overall planning and schematics of the system is
efficient.
The cooling is sufficient for the given auditorium.
