Description

4.50MW BHABA HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT

It is run-off river power plant with following parts :
Weir site
De-silting chamber
Feeder pipe
Head race tunnel
Fore bay
Power plant &
Switch yard

Weir site

the water in the river is diverted by the weir

through an opening in the river side (intake)
into an open or closed channel.

TRASH RACKS

It is a metallic structure used to prevent the

Foreign objects in order to safeguard the
Machinery.

De-silting chamber

The tank is used to remove the

Small foreign particles that
Comes along with water through
Trash racks.

It consists of two tube known

as vertex tubes

penstock
The penstock transports water under
pressure from the fore bay tank to the
turbine, where the potential energy of
water is converted into kinetic energy in
order to rotate the turbine

The penstock used have a dia

meter of 850mm and length is 360m

Control Panels

Main Inlet Valve (MIV)

Main inlet valve is the control device of fluid

pipe and its basic function is to connect or cut
off the medium circulation inside the pipeline.

WATER TURBINE

Bypass MIV

Bypass MIV is connected across the MIV.

Its function is to bypass the MIV .

AC Generator/Alternator

COOLING WATER SYSTEM

The cooling water system is used to cool the oil

flowing to the generator bearings

Control Panels

The control panels are the means by which, we

control or measure any parameter or keep an
eye on the plant operation.

The section consists of various panels which are

explained next.

Turbine auxiliary control panel

This panel is used to control the

turbine parameters such as speed,
nozzle opening-closing, MIV & bypass
MIV, brake,
loading etc.

synchronizing panel

Synchronization panel is used

to synchronize/match the
machine and bus bar voltage
and frequency

GEN. relay and metering panel

This panel consists of different types of

relays and displays for protection and
monitoring different parameters of the
generator.

T/F relay and metering panel

This panel consists of T/F protection relay & other

measuring instruments.

SWITCH YARD

Aswitchingsubstation, orswitchyard, is a
substation without transformers that operates
only at a single voltage level..

Earthing Switch

earthing switch is connected between the line

conducters and earth.
