ABSTRACT

OFDM systems are robust against multipath fading and have the ability to cope
with interference and noise. But they are not ideal for environments where
adversaries try to intentionally jam communications.
Jamming is the major problem in wireless communications. These jamming
signals can disturb the network communications.

Reactive jamming is regarded as one of the most effective, stealthy, and energy
efficient jamming strategies.
In this paper improved anti jamming techniques are going to use with MIMO
technology to resilient jamming in OFDM communication.

INTRODUCTION

Security is one of the critical attributes of any communication network.

Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) has developed
into a popular scheme for broadband wireless communications.
Jamming is the major problem in the wire less communications.

OFDM
Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is a method of encoding
digital data on multiple carrier frequencies
OFDM has developed into a popular scheme for wideband digital
communication
A large number of closely spaced orthogonal sub-carrier signals are used to
carry data on several parallel data streams or channels
Each sub-carrier is modulated with a conventional modulation scheme at a
low symbol rate.
This scheme maintains total data rates similar to conventional singlecarrier modulation in the same bandwidth.

ADVANTAGES OF OFDM

Ability to cope with severe channel conditions without complex equalization filters
Attenuation of high frequencies in a long copper wire,
Narrow band interference.
Frequency-selective fading due to multipath

ABOUT JAMMERS
Definition: We define a jammer to be an entity
is purposefully trying to interfere with the
physical transmission and reception of wireless
communications.
Basically jammers are three types. They are
1.constant jammer
2.Random jammer
3.reactive jammer

REACTIVE JAMMER
Reactive jammer is more effective, energy-efficient and stealthier.
The key feature of reactive jammer is sensing-before jamming.
The jamming reaction time denotes the time difference between the arrival of the original signal
and the jamming signal at the receiver.

It takes a reactive jammer a minimum reaction time to perform channel sensing and jamming
initialization before sending out jamming signals, during which the preamble of the frame could
be transmitted without being jammed as shown in Fig. 2.

Fig. 2: Reactive jammer starts jamming after certain reaction time

ANTI - JAMMING TECHNIQUE USING MIMO

We have to implement anti-jamming technique under reactive jamming.

Anti jammer is used to detect the jamming signals produced by the jammer and also
protect the information.

We are using MIMO technology to implement the anti jammer.

MIMO
MIMO means Multi Input Multi Output
Now a days , Most of the communication is from single antenna(Source) to single
antenna(Destination).

The main problem in single antenna reception or transmission is fading, cut-out (cliff effect), and
intermittent reception (picket fencing).

MIMO is an antenna technology for wireless communications in which multiple antennas are used.
sending and receiving more than one data signal on the same radio channel at the same time via
multipath propagation

The antennas at each end of the communications circuit are combined to minimize errors and optimize
data speed.

CONCLUSION
In this paper improved anti jamming techniques are going to use with MIMO

technology to resilient jamming in OFDM communication.

Multi-input Multi-output (MIMO) has emerged as a key technology for wireless
networks mostly due to its potential capacity gain.
In this paper, exploit the MIMO IC and transmit pre coding techniques to counteract
reactive jamming attacks for securing OFDM wireless systems and evaluate performance
in terms of packet delivery rate.
