Correlation
The relationship between more than one variable
is considered as correlation which means a simple
correlation relate one variable with another
variable.
What is Regression ?
According to Cohen and Holliday (1996) regression
analysis enables the researcher to predict the
specific value of one variable when we know or
assume values of the other variable(s). That is,
the researcher can calculate the effect of one
independent variable on one dependent variable.
Simple Regression
Example:
- The researcher may see the effect of hours of
study on levels of students achievement in an
examination. The researchers are able to see how
much improvement will be made to an
examination by a given number of hours of study.
Multiple Regression
Multiple Regression
regression.
Multiple Regression
single dependent
combined relationship
multiple independent
Example
Hour of study
IQ
(Multiple Independent )
(from those multiple independent variable we can predict the
single dependent variable)
Canonical Regression
To predict the relationship between two
multivariate sets of variables (vectors), all
measured on the same individual / same person.
Example:
Listening
Speaking
Motivation
Reading
Writing
(from motivation we can predict the students
skill individually)
