INTRODUCTION

There are two important properties of

Bakuchi viz. vishaghna and
shvitronasana.
In charka samhita it included
into tikta skanda. It used in arsha roga.
It considered as vishaghna in
sutrasthana 2/22. It is used in hair oil. In
chiktsa sthana 26/268 it mentioned as
one of the ingredient of mahaanila tail
which use in khalitya.
In sushruta samitha it included
in katu varga. In meda-ayushkamiya
adhyaya there is beautiful explanation
about it. In sushruta samitha it also
considered as vishaghna in kalpa
sthana 5/86.

It is a annual herb, which grows 30

to 80 cm in height
Leaves : broadly elliptic, incisodentate.
Flowers: in axillary longpeduncled
heads, bluish-purple or yellow.

shape.
Dark chocolate to
almost black in color.
3.5-4.5mm x 2.0-3.0mm in
size ,having a seed in it

name of arnaya-jiraka.
