Bam service is responsible for the inter-communication with the OS
and record the related events to the OS log system.
Security Manager monitors the running status of the other service
module of the BAM sub-system, and also monitors the running
environment of the BAM server, such as the hard disc spaces, etc.

It provides interface to access the SQL server.

CommunicationsDrv module:
It provides interface for communications to the service process
module using TCP/IP protocol.

Log module:
It provides log record and inquiry services for the LMT users.

Architecture of OM system
LMT

It is the man-machine interface for the BSC6800, it provides GUI

and communicates with BAM using MML command line

It includes the O&M system, data management system, alarm

Software to Be Installed
BAM

software:

BAM software refers to the software running on the BAM server.

It can perform communication control, data configuration, and collection

& filtration of performance data and alarms between LMT and the boards
of BSC6800.

The BAM software can respond to command requests from LMT, and
after necessary processing, send them to the boards in BSC6800 for
processing and execution.

It can sort out the execution results coming from the boards and return
them to the LMT to display.

LMT

software:
LMT software refers to the software running on the compatible x86
computer.

It serves as an O&M interface for the BSC6800 system.

With LMT software, the operator can input MML commands and view
command execution results

Requirements of BAM Server Configuration

The

hardware requirements:
2 PIII 1.26GHz CPU

2 1GB RAM

4 10M/100M network adapter

2 36GB SCSI hard disk

1 4 Lx RAID

Requirements of BAM Server Configuration

Software

requirement:

The Windows 2000 Server is normal and includes the patch SP4.

The Server includes a suitable network adapter driver. Teaming of

adapters and configurations of internal and external networks are
successful.

The SQL Server 2000 already starts. It includes an account "sa", and
you are aware of the corresponding password. It also includes the patch
SP3.

Time setting of the Server is correct.

Installation of network

In a normal operation, an internal and an external network

segment should be set for LAN Switch..

The layout of network cables between BAM and LanSwitch

is as follow.

Installation of network

Plan the IP Address for the network

Team the adapters

Each

BAM server has been configured with four network

adapters in total : two of them are main board integrated

adapters, the other two are PCI adapters. Their drivers should
be properly installed.
Install

the Intel PROSet II application by using IBM 10/100

Use Intel(R) PROSet II application to team the adpaters.

and

Team the adapters

One

PCI adapter and one main board integrated adapter

should be bounded to a team.

Each

adapter team run as a virtual adapter with more fault

tolerance.
The

internal IP address and external IP address should be

configured on each of virtual adapter.

Uninstalling Existing BAM Software

Uninstall the existing BAM software before an upgrade to avoid

upgrade failure .

Stop BAMService and BAM procedures .

Click

[Start/Programs/Administrative

Tools/Services].

Select

"BAMService" and then click to stop the service.

Click [System/Exit] or click

in the upper-right corner in the

[SecurityManager] window to stop the service manager and the BAM

procedure.

Remove the existing BAM software either using the uninstall tool
provided by the software itself or using [Add/Remove Programs] in
the [Control Panel].

Make sure that you have backed up the important data before you
uninstall the BAM.

Check security manager

When

the Server restarts, the successfully installed BAM

software will start automatically and a [Security Manager] icon

will appear in the status area

Security
Manager

Check BAMService
BAMService

monitors the status of the security manager. It

will restart the Server when the security manager stops. It will
run normally and trigger the BAM software when the Server
restarts.
