Upcoming Diversification Plans

Anti-ulcerantsProton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)

The company has planned for installation of new

manufacturing facilities of PPIs- i.e. Rabiprazole,
Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, Lansoprazole & Pantoprazole .
Rabiprazole is used to treat conditions where the stomach
produces too much acid, including ulcers,
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ZollingerEllison syndrome.
The total amount of Capital Expenditure will be about Rs
100 Crores ( approx USD 20.83 million).
The Project of Rabiprazole is planned to be implemented
from 2009-10.

Proton Pump Inhibitors

(PPIs)

Bind to Proton Pump and Prevent it from Producing Acid in to the

Stomach.
Usage in Treatment of Variety of Gastric Ailments.
Generally have More Potent Effect on Suppressing Acid than H-2
Blockers ( like Ranitidine, Cimetidine, Nizatidine ).
PPIs Available :
- Rabeprazole
- Lansoprazole
- Omeprazole
- Pantoprazole
- Esomeprazole

PPIs:

Comparison of PPIs and

Antacids
ANTACIDS:

Prevent Secretion of Gastric Acid by

Inhibiting Proton Pump in Stomach.

Neutralize Gastric Acid. e.g. Aluminium

Hydroxide & Magnesium Hydroxide.

Their Onset of Action is comparatively

late but have comparatively very Long
Duration of Action.

They Provide Faster Relief from

Heartburn but have very Brief
Duration of Action.

Work in Gastric Lumen. So Useful in

Almost All Gastric Ailments.

Work almost in Esophageal Lumen

which Limits its Use only for
Spontaneous Relief from Heartburn.

Very Low Rate of Recurrence of Disease.

Rate of Recurrence of Disease is

Higher.

Blockers
PPIs:
H-2 Blockers:
Prevent Secretion of Gastric Acid by
Inhibiting Proton Pump in stomach.

Prevent or Block Histamine from

Stimulating the Production of Acid. e.g.
Cimetidine, Famotidine, Nizatidine &
Ranitidine.

Works at the Site where Acid is being

made. Thats why More Effective in
Suppressing Gastric Acid secretion
Longer Duration of Action, more than
24 hrs.

Works at the Site which Stimulates the

Production of Gastric Acid.

Comparatively More Efficacious in

Treatment of GERD, Gastric Ulcers and
Healing of Erosive Esophagitis

Comparatively Less Efficacious in

Treatment of GERD, Gastric Ulcers and
Healing of Erosive Esophagitis.

Dose is 20 mg / day.

Usual Dose is 300 mg / day, but Long

Term 150 mg / day

Duration of Action is 2-3 hrs

Growth Potential
Potential for growth of these products is demonstrated
by their growing usage in various industries.
While the demand growth is being accompanied by an
increase in production capacities, there is still a
significant projected demand supply gap for these
products in the market.
Ethanol, major raw material, available in abundance
from Distilleries of Punjab & UP.
Companys markets for these products are being
significantly enhanced with the commencement of
Indian Oils Refinery nearby at Panipat & from another
upcoming HPCL-Mittal Refinery nearby at Bhatinda
