nopermanent/temporaryconstructiondevelopment
takesplacearoundituptoadistanceof50mfromthe
edgeofthewater.

Therainwaterrunoffshallbesuitablydirectedto
RechargingWellsinplotsbelongingtothelocal
authority.
Thelocalauthorityshouldencourageforcollectionof

Buildingshavingcentralairconditioningplants

Efficientcollectionanddisposalofdomesticgarbage
fromabuildingoractivityareaisofsignificant
importancetopublichealthandenvironmental
sanitationand,therefore,anessentialpartofthe
constructionofthebuiltenvironment

LABORTARYWASTE
Inlaboratoriesforeducational,researchand
medicalinstitutions,handlingmildlycorrosive
andtoxicwastes,theymaybeneutralizedin
chambersusingappropriateneutralizingagents.
Thechambershallbeprovidedwithchambersat
inletandoutletforcollectingsamplesofthe
incomingandoutgoingwasteformonitoringits
characteristics.

Researchlaboratorywaste
Researchlaboratoriesconductingresearchinallareas
ofscienceandtechnologylikechemicalindustry,
pharmacy,metallurgy,biosciences,agriculture,atomic
energy,medicine,etc,shallfollowtheestablished
procedureslaiddownbystatutorybodiestohandle,treat
anddisposewasteswhicharehighlytoxic,corrosive,
infectious,inflammablecomplexorganicandinorganic
chemicals.
Suchwastesshallnotbedisposedoffthecitysewerage
systemunlesstheyarepretreatedandmeetthedisposal
criteriainaccordancewiththerelevantrules/regulations.

Infectedliquidwastesaregeneratedinhospitals
frompatientexcretaoperationtheatres
laboratoriestestingsamplesofstools,urine,
blood,fleshetcwhichshallnotbedisposedoff
intothedrainagesystem.
Suchwasteshallbecollectedseparatelyand
pretreatedbeforedisposalintothebuilding
drainagesystem.

INFECTEDWASTE
Soiledandlinenfrominfectiouspatientsneedstobe
collectedfromtherespectiveareasofthehospitalin
separatelinenbinsandprewashedandsterilizedin
thelaundrybeforefinalwashinthehospitallaundry.
Liquidwastesfromthewashingoperationsshallbe
neutralizedtopreventanycrosscontaminationbefore
disposalinthebuildingdrainagesystem.

Oilsandlubricantsarefoundinwastesfromvehicle
servicestations,workshopsmanufacturingunitswhose
wastemaycontainhighcontentofoilsforexample,
petroleum,keroseneanddieselusedasfuel,cooking,
lubricantoilsetcthatarelighterthanwater.
Suchoilshavealowignitionpointandareproneto
catchfireifexposedtoanyflameorasparkandmay
causeexplosioninsideoroutsidethedrainagesystem.

Lighteroilsandlubricantsareremovedfromthe
systembypassingthemthroughanoil
interceptor/petrolgully.

disposalinanapprovedmanner.
Oilfreewastecollectedfromthebottomofthe
chamberisdisposedinthebuildingdrainagesystem.

Amanholeorinspectionchambershallbecapableofsustaining
theloadswhichmaybeimposedonit,excludesubsoilwaterand
bewatertight.
Thesizeofthechambershouldbesufficienttopermitready
accesstothedrainorsewerforinspection,cleaningandrodding
andshould
