POLICE AVIATION is one of the most effective support methods for

all of the developed police units in fighting against crime and
criminals and ensuring the security and peace of mind, tracing
crime and criminals by performing other strategic goals and
objectives.
The Department of Police Aviation of TNP, established to support
the power of prevention and intervention of the Police across Turkey
from the air, endeavors to contribute to increasing of the
effectiveness in public security, intelligence, traffic, anti-terrorism
and other flight services and in the fight against these crimes and
criminals.

TASKS

1. Made mainly in the context of counter-terrorism

activities, including
2. Public security and combatting against
smuggling,
3. Transportation of staff and logistics,
4. Traffic controlling services,
5. V.I.P. Services,
6. Security Services,
7. Search and rescue activities such as in
earthquakes and natural disasters,
8. As the ambulance Helicopter.

THE ROLE OF AVIATION BEFORE CRIME:

Department working for preventing crime component before crime
carries out its tasks in two ways:
a) Deterrence task: Patrol flights made for preventing any
individual and collective attacks and peace frustrating actions
without regard to a specific destination against Turkeys values,
citizens or the foreigners visiting Turkey and their goods; deterrence
against individuals who are prone to commit crime inspires
confidence in our people wishing to live in peace environment. In
addition, traffic control from the air by helicopter can also prevent
drivers from making error is the very active task of a deterrence in
terms of road traffic safety.
b) Surveillance and discovery task: According to the information
received prior to the offense, this task is carried out in the form of airmonitoring of the people likely to commit the crime, all types of land
vehicles, aircrafts, watercrafts belonging to them and their home and
lands. This task may be not only for against all kinds of terrorist
activities but also identifying non-easily accessible secluded areas of 4
illicit cultivation, production and storage and also against all kinds of

The arrest and identification of criminals after
the committing of a crime may not be possible
sometimes in consequence of pursuit and
research done from land or takes a long time.
Arrest, pursuit and identification of the fled
people involving in other events such as
bombing, robbery, extortion, terror, sabotage
and attack can be in a short period with the
ability of the airborne research, detection and
follow.

 OTHER DUTIES UNDER:

Department which has active task concerned with the
detection of crime provides aviation services not only for
criminal incidents but also other events.
Search and rescue services are performed in natural disasters
such as flood, earthquake occurring in Turkeys various regions.
Generally, transfering sick and wounded people in the disaster
zones to the nearest hospital, transfering health team and
medical supplies to the disaster areas for emergency and
delivering food-aid to the citizens in the case of the victims of
the disaster zone are carried out by the Police Helicopters.
Police Helicopters are also used as ambulance helicopter for
transfering the injured people from the various accidents that
occur to the hospital.

 On the other hand, many forest fires in the

region which cant be noticed and are very
hard-to-reach from the land could be able
to be prevented before it grows thanks to
the sensitivity of the pilots while patroling
in the air.
In addition to all this, VIP Services
especially for National Leaders and foreign
statesmen as well are done with the police
aviation.
