Enhanced Feature -- WUFD-010303

T.38 IP Fax

Definition
T.38 IP fax enables the UMG8900 to set up a point-to-point
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) or User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
connection to terminals on IP networks, encapsulate T.30 packets into
T.38 packets, and transfer T.38 packets over IP networks.

In UMG8900
V200R009C05,
T.38 fax supports
40ms
packetization.

Enhanced Feature -- Transmission

Quality Check for the IP Bearer
Definition
Network

This feature enables the UMG8900 to regularly send ping packets to

the peer to check the transmission quality of the IP bearer network.
A network quality check requires a pair of monitoring IP addresses:
source IP address (of the UMG8900) and destination IP address (of the
peer). Such an IP address pair can be added manually or
automatically:
Manually: Added by running ADD MONITORIP with Monitor IP and
Source IP for Monitor IP specified.
Automatically: Added automatically on the bearer plane.

The function of automatic quality

check on the IP bearer network
between local and peer devices
on the bearer plane was added.

Enhanced Feature -- Voice Quality

Monitor
Definition
The voice quality monitoring feature enables the UMG8900 to
calculate a call's mean of score (MOS) values and send these MOS
values to the performance measurement system for the purpose of
monitoring end-to-end voice quality.
MOS values are calculated based on voice quality factors, such as
packet loss, jitter, delay, and codec type.
The UMG8900 can calculate a call's MOS values in the following two
manners:
Global calculating: The UMG8900 regularly samples half of calls
over all bearer paths (IP address pairs) on the voice over IP (VoIP)
network to calculate the MOS values.
Specified calculating: The UMG8900 calculates the MOS values for
calls over the manually specified bearer paths (IP address pairs).
The function of MOS
value calculation for
specified bearer paths
was added.

Security Management Updates

Voices recorded on the UMG8900 is restricted to meet security
requirements of carriers.
The function of obtaining user information is disabled to protect lawful
interception.
DTMF tracing is disabled to meet carrier requirement.
DTMF interface tracing, and DTMF signaling tracing and M2833 tracing in
the full-flow call tracing are disabled so that bearing information is obtained
lawfully.
The configuration data backup and recovery are disabled to meet
carrier requirement.
When configuration data is backed up or recovered using the LMT, the
default FTP account and password are used, which does not meet carrier
requirement. Therefore, in V200R009C05 this function is disabled. An
alternative solution is provided for internal commissioning.
The FTP connection of the UMG8900 is restricted.
Secure protocols are supported, such as SSH v2, TLS1.0, SSL3.0, IPSec,
SFTP, and SNMPv3, and insecure protocols are not supported, such as FTP
and Telnet.

Password authentication is required for the shell login and all entered
contents in the shell are recorded in the system log.
The shell requires the password and all entered contents will be recorded in
the system log. The default password is 9061csl and it can be changed by
running bsp ShellPasswordModify.

Fault Management Updates

Recovering services

The service recovery feature detects, diagnoses, and rectifies service

faults that are detected by the service fault detection feature, enhancing
troubleshooting and reducing maintenance cost.
Version consistency check on the OMU

ALM-0274 "Version Inconsistency" is generated when the host version

stored on the OMU hard disk differs from that stored in the memory or
the host version stored on the master OMU differs from that stored on
the slave OMU.
Automatic transmission quality check for the IP bearer network

The UMG8900 automatically locates faults of the bearer network and

reports ALM-3282 "IP bearer network is abnormal", reducing core
network maintenance costs and shortening service interruption time.

MTP3 link overload detection

ALM-3985 "MTP3 Link Overload" is generated when the total size of the
messages sent or received over the MTP3 link in the previous minute reaches
the value of Link overload begin. This helps link monitoring and expansion
planning.
Unavailable A-interface circuit detection

ALM-0869 "The count of the circuits in the A-interface trunk reaches the
threshold" is generated when the percentage of idle circuits or that of blocked
and faulty circuits exceeds the specified alarm threshold (%) in three
consecutive measurement periods, after the alarm data is configured for an Ainterface trunk group by running ADD AIETKCALM. To generate ALM 0860
"Circuit reset failure of the MGW" rather than ALM-0869 "The count of the
circuits in the A-interface trunk reaches the threshold", do not set bits 7-8 of P95
to 00. You are advised to use ALM-0869.
For changes of alarms, see UMG8900 V200R009C05 Alarm Delta Description.

Other Updates Optimizes path selection

based on IP QoS
Optimized path selection based on IP QoS allows the MGW to base
the QoS reporting on the packet transmissions for all calls using
the same IP address pair instead of on the packet transmission for
a single call.
Knowing the QoS level of the IP address pairs in each IP domain, the
MGC can select the IP domain with the best service quality. The
MGW can then select the IP address pair with the best service
quality from this IP domain. This feature improves subscriber
satisfaction by minimizing the effects on new calls when the IP
bearer network is faulty or has deteriorated QoS.
