GREEN

CITY
PLANNING

What is green city

planning??? Green city planning is a
process and technique
to develop a city and to
make it pollution free
i.e., a green city
concerned with
sustainable
development, urban
planning, green
construction,
transportation network,
etc

necessity
To reduce the pollution i.e., protection of

environment
To reduce the land use i.e., density of the city
To serve the non-renewable energy or to save us
from energy crisis
For social development
For economical development
For easy transportation system
To serve us from climate change
For proper utilization of water, water waste, other
wastes (bio-fuels)
For proper fire serviceetc

How??? a green city

can be built
Green city planning
includes engineering,
architecture, social and
political concerns. It is a
very challenging job for a
planner. By using
renewable energy
resources along with better
transportation planning ,
construction with ecofriendly engineering
materials and others, we
may plan a GREEN CITY.

Renewable energy source or green energy source
Green energy sources 1.solar energy, 2.wind
energy, 3.hydro energy, 4.by bio-waste(bio-fuels),
5.geothermal energy. Mainly
Separate solar energy plants should be provided for
electricity production. Because all people of the city
are not able to install the solar panels at their
houses .
Separate wind energy plants should also be provided
for same at open fields of the city.
Separate plants of bio-waste recycling should also
be provided for energy generation and other uses.
hydro energy power
Geothermal energy should also utilized in the city.

Transportation system planning

Over bridge should be provided at the junction of

roads which are more busy.

Trees should be planted both sides of the roads
and railway lines wherever possible.
Metro system should be adopted for better
transportation.
Less use of non-renewable energy (cause more
pollution)
CNG & renewable energy source also should be
used in means of transport..etc

Green construction
The buildings should be constructed by green materials

i.e., photocatalytic concrete, etc. As photocatalyts

reduce the environmental pollution,
Photocatalytic paints may also be used for same
purpose,
Green construction includes the building construction
with its own renewable energy generation i.e.,
accompanied with solar panels,
Windmills or wind turbine or wind wheel, geothermal
plants etc. wherever possible,
In green construction, it is necessary that each
buildings/houses of the city use the solar panels for own
need of electricity wherever possible.
Trees should be planted on large scale..etc

For built a green city transportation system also

plays important role. Since, the means of transport

(e.g. cars, buses, bikes, etc), which use nonrenewable energy , cause the pollution in the
environment. So, the use of non-renewable energy
has been minimized here, wherever possible, and
the renewable energy & CNG have been used for
the means of transport in this transportation
system.
Also the metro rail system
has been adopted in high density areas and over
bridges have been also provided at the junction of
roads or across the railway lines..
