which he works.

• He is responsible for
performance.
HIS FUNCTIONS
• To first set objectives which
the organisation must achieve
and then constantly monitor
the progress and activities of
the firm to ensure that it is
moving in the right direction.

• To ensure survival of the firm


and also actively seek its
growth.
• To perform and produce
results in the most efficient
manner possible.

• To anticipate, and prepare for,


the increasing competition.

• To maintain close contact and


relations with customers.
• To be constantly on the
lookout for people with
potential and attract them to
join his organisation.

• To retain talented people by


providing a comfortable
working environment that is
conducive to work.
• To influence his subordinates
to work willingly for
achieving the organisational
objectives and inspire them
to put in their best effort.

• To encourage, in the
organisation, both creative
people and people who can
produce business results.
• To act as a
change agent,
i.e., to ensure
that change is
introduced and
incorporated in
the
organisation in
a smooth
manner with
the least
disturbance
and resistance.
• To discharge the
organisation’s
responsibility
towards the
customers, i.e.,
to ensure that
the desired
quality of
product is made
easily available
to the customers
at a reasonable
price.
• To ensure the
security of the
shareholders’
capital.

• To ensure that the


employees are
getting a fair deal
in terms of wages
and salaries, and
to comply with the
statutory
obligations.
• To discharge his
responsibility
towards his
suppliers by
providing correct
design
specifications,
adequate time
for production,
fixation of a fair
price and prompt
and timely
payments.
• To ensure
regular supplies
to his
distributors.

• To register his
organisation as
a member of his
industry
association and
comply with all
its rules and
regulations.
• To recognise and
acknowledge the
bargaining power of
the union arising
out of its collective
strength and
provide the union
with the correct
facts and figures
about costs and
profits and, thus,
aim for a realistic,
workable
agreement that
suits both the
parties.
• To ensure that the
constitution and
operations of the
organisation are
within the legal
framework
specified by the
Government and
pay regularly and
fairly all taxes,
dues and duties.
• To discharge his responsibility
towards his surroundings and the
people living in the vicinity of his
factory and office by not polluting the
physical environment by releasing
harmful smoke and gas into the
atmosphere, discharging toxic
effluents into rivers, lakes or seas
and dumping waste matter in
surrounding lands.
