What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources, such as sunlight, wind,
rain, tides, and geothermal heat. It is a green energy, which doesnt lead to climate
change and does not involve emission of pollutants.

What technologies are available?

Wind Energy

Solar Energy

Hydropower (water power)

Geothermal Energy

Biomass for Electricity

The Presidents Clean Power Plan

White Houses plan to reduce CO2 emissions 32% (2005-2030).

Reduce Pollution from Power Plants and Heavy-Duty Vehicles.
Passed legislation creating renewable energy infrastructure and 1000s jobs.
Continues making green energy more accessible to low-income.
Secured private funds for Clean energy innovation.
Establishes fuel economy standards.

What energy programs are available?

Green Power Partnership (GPP)
Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP)
Re - Powering Americas Lands

What are renewable energy benefits?

Improved public health and environmental quality

Creates Jobs
Stable Energy Prices
Clean Air

Renewable Energy Evidence

Renewable Energy in the U.S accounted for
13.2% of the domestically produced electricity
in 2014.
Hydroelectric power is largest producer of
renewable power in U.S. (Washington)
Hydroelectric produced around 6.2% of nations
total electricity in 2010 .
That was 60.2% of the total renewable power.
(U.S)
Wind Power another Renewable source which
has 60,007 MW.(MegaWatt)
Supply 4% of the nations electricity.
Alta Wind Energy Center largest wind farm in
the nation and second in the world.(CA)
Supply 1,548 Megawatts. (AWEC)
Shepherds Flat Wind Farm is second largest.
(Oregon)

California
California is one of state in USA a
leader of renewable energy.
Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS)
was created in 2002.
Since 2002 nearly 200 new renewable
energy generation projects have been
built in California.
Alta Wind Energy Center program now
can power more 5 millions homes with
renewable in California.
Also, will help reduce co2 emissions by
5.2 million metric tons because this 25
years program.
Equivalent to taking 446,000 cars off
the road.

Renewable Energy Economy

Renewable energy industry is more
labor-intensive.
Renewable energy created over
thousands of jobs in the United States.
In 2011, wind energy hired 75,000
employees for full time.
Solar Industry employed approximately
100,000 people on a part or full time.
The funding for renewable energy
projects comes from a combination of
federal and state funds, and private
investors.

Energy Cost
An average American household uses 11,000
kilowatt-hours per year.
Louisiana has the highest annual consumption
of power: 15,497 kWh
Hawaii has the lowest consumption of power:
6,077 kWh per year
People will save money!!!

Solutions Project
Proposed project to convert all 50
states to renewable energy
Offers individualized solution for
every state.
Combines solar, geothermal, wind,
tidal systems.

Utilitarianism

Implementation of Renewable Energy Infrastructure would be the ethical action.

The well-being of sentient beings is maximized
Non-implementation would threaten their well-being
Life on Earth will be preserved and removed from harm of Climate change
consequences.
