2. Software upgrade
GSM/UMTS operators can build a new GSM/LTE network to replace the old GSM system.
The existed UMTS network co-existence with GSM/LTE system.
By software upgrade, the GSM spectrum can refarm to future single LTE system.

Special Features
Reuse 3
Reuse 1
FFR
Reuse 1 achieves high spectrum efficiency. However, it suffers from very high interference
from other cells, especially at cell edge. The interference margin is high in reuse 1.
The interference margin of reuse 3 is lower than reuse 1 due to different frequency resources.
However, Reuse 3 decreases severely the overall spectrum efficiency.
FFR: Reuse one at cell centers combined with reuse three at cell edges. The interference
margin of FFR is similar to reuse 3, especially at cell edge.
