SAFETY
COMES
FIRST !!!

I Could Have Saved A Life Today

I could have saved a life today, but I chose to look the other way.
It wasnt that I didnt care, I had the time, and I was there.
But I didnt want to seem a fool, or argue over a safety rule.
I knew hed done the job before, if I called it wrong, he might get sore.
The chances didnt seem that bad, Ive done the same, he knew I had.
So I shook my head and walked on by, he knew the risks as well as I.
He took the chance, I closed an eye, and with that act I let him die.
I could have save a life today, but I chose to look the other way.
Now every time I see his wife, Ill know I should have saved his life.
That guilt is something I must bear, but it isnt something you need to share.
If you see a risk that others take, that puts their health or life at stake.
The question asked, or thing you say, could help them live another day.
If you see a risk and walk away, then hope you never have to say,
I could have saved a life today, but I chose to look the other way.

discuss, learn, and data gather.

Team Performance - Involvement

Everyone is involved and using their abilities.

No Rank Allowed, everyone is equal

Everyone is fully engaged

Tuckmans Team Development Model

Dr Bruce Tuckman 1965

Team Development - Forming

High dependence on leader for guidance and direction.
Little agreement on team aims other than received from leader.
Individual roles and responsibilities are unclear.
Lots of questions about the team's purpose, objectives and external
relationships.
Processes are often ignored.
Members test tolerance of system and leader (team leaders beware!).
Leader directs.

Team Development - Storming

Decisions don't come easily within group.
Team members vie for position as they attempt to establish themselves.
The leader might receive challenges from team members (beware the sharks!).
Clarity of purpose increases but plenty of uncertainties persist.
Cliques and factions form and there may be power struggles.
The team needs to be focused on its goals to avoid becoming distracted by
relationships and emotional issues.
Compromises may be required to enable progress.

Team Development - Norming

Agreement and consensus forms among team.
Roles and responsibilities are clear and accepted.
Big decisions are made by group agreement.
Smaller decisions may be delegated to individuals or small teams within group.
Commitment and unity is strong.
The team discusses and develops its processes and working style.
There is general respect for the leader and some of leadership is more shared by
the team.
Leader facilitates and enables.

Team Development - Performing

The team is more strategically aware; the team knows clearly why it is doing
what it is doing.
The team has a shared vision.
There is a focus on achieving goals.
The team has a high degree of autonomy.
Disagreements occur but now they are resolved within the team positively and
necessary changes to processes and structure are made by the team.
Team members look after each other.
The team does not need to be instructed or assisted.
Team members seek personal and interpersonal development.
Leader delegates and oversees.

Teamworking The Unipart Way

A competent and committed individual can make a significant
contribution to improving the business. However, when
individuals join together the potential is enormous:
The effect of the whole is greater than the sum of the
individual parts.
The Unipart Way emphasises the importance of teamworking
because;
A team can do more jobs an
individual cannot.

2 + 2 = 10

Team are more likely to produce

better results.

The overall time taken to identify, plan

and implement the required changes
successfully, will generally be less than
with the individual approach.

The changes required to improve

the business are more likely to be
accepted by the team involved and
the team is more likely to persuade
others to accept the changes.

Team building creates an environment

for personal development,
strengthening the organisation and
harnessing the individual potential for
further business

Teamwork is
Fun.
