What are some vertebrate

animals?

FISH

Animals live in the water

Gills to breathe underwater
Live in fresh water/salt water
Lionfish, clownfish, shark, and etc.

BIRDS

Animals that have feathers

Wings
Lay eggs
Not all, birds can fly
Bald eagle, cardinal, ostriches
and etc.

Mammals

Warm-blooded animals
Nurse their young with milk
Fur or hair
Giraffes, horses, dog and etc.

Amphibians

Cold-blooded animals
Start their lives living in water
Using gills just like fish
Develop lungs move to dry land
Frog, toads, salamander, and etc.

Reptiles

Animals which lay eggs

Skin covered with hard and dry
scales
Cold-blooded
Warm-blooded

Coldblooded
Animal cannot maintain constant
body temperature
Temperature body determined
outside surroundings
Move during the day
Between sun to warm up/cool down
Ectothermic, which means outside
heat

Warmblooded

Regulate their internal temperature

Can sweat or pant to cool off
Fur and feathers keep them warm
Endothermic, meaning "heat inside"
Birds and mammals are warm-blooded
