LANDING GEAR
The Landing Gear is
the principle support
of the airplane when
parked, taxiing, taking
off, or when landing.

Types of Landing Gear

The landing gear
consists of three
wheels-two main
wheels and a third
wheel positioned
either at the front or
rear of the airplane.

Tricycle Landing Gear

Airplanes with third
wheel positioned at
the front, it receives
the name from tricycle
landing gear.

Convetional Landing Gear

Conventional landing
gear is that one
where the third wheel
it is located in the
back part of the
aircraft, known as tailskid.

Other types of Landing Gear

The most common
type of landing ger
consists of wheels,
but airplanes can also
be equipped with
floats for water
operations, landing on
snow, or in the water
and the ground
together, known as
amphibious.

Fixed Landing Gear

The fixed train is that
one where the same
airplane in flight is
with the opened train,
that is, without
movement.

Retractable Landing Gear

The retratil train, more
used in airplanes of
great transport, is that
one where the train is
collected in the
fuselage of the
aircraft, helping in the
aerodynamic
performance.
