OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the session the students are expected to:
1. Induce magnetism in some magnetic materials.
2. Identify the polarity of the magnetized object and
determine the greatest concentration of magnetic
pull in a given magnets
3. Identify some magnetic materials.
4. Define induce magnetism operationally.

A. Motivation: Group activity (Simple Jigsaw).

Group the class into five groups.
Each group is provided with an envelop. Inside the
envelop are strips of cut phrases or words which the
students will arrange to form a statement. The statements
are the definition of word, the principle and the property of
magnetism. Each group is given 2 minutes to arrange cut
the strip of paper.

1. Magnets have the ability to attract /materials that are/

magnetic in nature. Magnetic material is /one which
can be magnetized /and is attracted to magnets.
2. Magnetic poles /always occur in pair. /Like poles of
magnet /repel and unlike poles /attract each other.
3. Magnetism is commonly attributed /to ferromagnetism
and electromagnetism / depending on the material and
moving charges./The property of a substance By/
which it is strongly attracted by /a magnet is called
ferromagnetism.
4. Stroking with a permanent magnet is /one of the ways
to induce or cause / magnetism in an /object that can
be magnetized./
5. The polarity of the induced magnetism/ in the object is
opposite to the polarity of/ the nearer end of the
permanent magnet. /Attraction happens after
/magnetic induction occurs./
