INTRODUCTION
The main purpose of this paper is to compare
the differences between Malay and English
grammar and also identifying their similarities
especially in the context of the sentence
structure (syntax). The motivation of this
paper is either to prove or reject the
hypothesis that Malay has almost similar
grammar as English. The problem was found
in translating the sentences from English to
Malay. This occurs if the words are translated
one-by-one. Therefore, we have divided this
research into 6 main categories which are
based on the parts of speech of the English
grammar. We found out that the structure has
much more differences when compared
together but there also a little similarities. In
conclusion, the hypothesis is rejected.
