Campaign Planning : Objective


The aims of campaign management are the following:
Reduced costs achieved by grouping sequences of identical
production charges and thus carrying out more efficient setup and
clean-out processes which can be very costly as compared to
storage cost
Higher product quality in cases where the desired quality level is
achieved gradually in the production process as opposed to
immediately from the first batch
More exact settlement resulting from clear distribution of
campaign fixed costs (setup, clean-out, and tear down costs) to
the orders involved

Campaign Planning : ECC VS. APO-PPDS


In ECC we can create one campaign for only one product, but in
APO-PPDS we can create one campaign for more than one
similar product.
ECC can not perform optimization but APO-PPDS can create
production campaign by optimizing setup cost, setup time, delay
cost and storage cost using campaign optimizer.

Campaign Planning
Campaign Planning can be done in two ways :
1. Campaign Heuristic
2. Campaign Optimization

Campaign Planning Using Heuristic :


Here campaigns are created for all the orders, with :
1. Same setup group in their respective PPM
2. Same bottleneck resource is used as primary resource and no other bottleneck resource is
used in PPM other than alternative resource of the primary resource.

Campaign optimization weigh up the following costs according to their
proportion defined by business, the costs are:
1. Total Storage Cost
2. Total Delay Cost
3. Total Setup Time
4. Total Setup Cost
5. Total Mode Cost

Storage Cost is maintained in product location master in the unit of Day


per base unit of product.

Delay cost is maintained in optimizer profile. Total delay cost is calculated


as :
Weighted total of delay costs = Weighting x Total of the delay length in
seconds x Priority-dependent costs

Setup Time and Setup Cost are maintained in Setup Matrix. Here system
consider setup cost in the unit of second when considering it in objective
function.

Mode cost is the costs that are incurred when executing an activity in a
particular mode. Its components are maintained in optimization profile.
Total mode cost is calculated as :
Mode costs = Fixed costs + Variable costs x Duration of activity in seconds

board and number of
