HISTORY
Meru cabs was founded by Neeraj Gupta in
Mumbai on April 2007, by raising funds
against an equity stake in the company
from India Value Fund (IVF), which is a
private equity fund with a corpus of over
US$1.4 Billion.
On 2 February 2014, Google Now and Meru
Cabs announced a partnership to provide
instant alerts to customers.
The name Meru is rooted in our Indian culture. The
Hindu and Jain
mythology refer to Mount Meru as the center of the
universe, the abode
of Lord Brahma and a pantheon of gods and
goddesses.

EVOLUTION OF MERU CABS

Neeraj Gupta, Meru Cabs' MD, was inspired by similar services in London and
Singapore, where he would often travel with his wife.
Gupta sensed an opportunity in running a fleet of air-conditioned, GPS-linked,
electronic metered taxis in Mumbai when the Maharashtra government invited
tenders for such a service for 10,000 cabs, replacing the old black-and-yellow taxis
in 2006.
So he took the plunge, but money was a problem.
India Value Fund invested Rs 50 Cr in the parent company in December 2006 to
help finance Mr. Gupta's foray in the air-conditioned taxi market.
The fund promised to pay another Rs 160 Cr when required.
The company has a top line of Rs 100 Crore. It is likely turn in a profit in
2011, and targets sales of Rs 180 Cr that year.
It earns 10% of revenues from advertisements painted on the car front.

INVESTERS
In 2006, India Value Fund (IVF), a premier private equity
fund, managing a corpus of over US $ 1.4 Billion took an
equity stake in the Company, with a view to creating one
of the finest passenger transportation businesses in the
country.
Over the years IVF has made investments into retailing,
healthcare, media
and entertainment, specialized
engineering and financial services sectors and redefined
industry benchmarks in each investment.

VISION
Our vision is to give urban commuters in India a
world class experience of travelling by using a

TRAINING ACADEMY:

They believe that the critical difference between an ordinary taxi

service and a Meru Cabs service lies in the investment that they
make into training chauffeurs.
Their stringent conditions for engaging a chauffeur include address
verification, complete medical check up, testing of driving skills,
ability to manage the on board technology on our vehicles, familiarity
with our city and all the mandatory licensing criteria.
And if a potential chauffeur meets these requirements, they put them
through an intensive 5-day training program where they impart
knowledge on customer service, hygiene, safe driving habits and how
to handle an emergency.
