Extreme Weather and Climate Change

Many parts of the world have more extreme weather because of climate change. Some
experts believe that global warming is causing changes in dry weather and wet weather all
over the planet. They say that this causes floods in some parts of the world, and very dry
weather in others. This problem will probably continue into the future. Even though some
places are beginning to have floods, other places are experiencing drought. Parts of Mexico,
the U.S., Southern Europe, northern Africa, and Australia have been affected by this.
It is possible that global warming is the reason storms such as hurricanes and tornadoes are
stronger than they were in the past. Places like northern Europe and Canada have more
extreme wet weather than in the past. Heavy rain causes flooding, and snowstorms cause
problems, too. Heavy rain, snow, and ice cause damage to buildings and homes, cars, and
power lines.
