CONCEPT
Worklife balance is a concept including
proper prioritizing between "work and
"lifestyle.
Research suggests that improving the
balance between our working lives and our
lives outside work can bring real benefits for
employers and employees. It can help build
strong communities and productive
businesses.

CAUSES OF WORK-LIFE
IMBALANCE:
1.Excessive multi-tasking:
The more tasks you try to do at once, the less well
you'll do on any single one. This includes trying to
juggle work tasks when you're home.
2.Trying to work faster:
As a short-term tactic, working faster may produce
results. Over the long term, however, it will leave
you physically, mentally, and emotionally drained
and far less effective in achieving your ultimate life
goals.

3. Making promises that you cant keep:

Don't tell someone at work or at home that you'll
do something if you know you can't realistically do
it.
4. Being a perfectionist:
Some tasks do need to be closer to perfect than
others,
but perfectionism and paying unnecessary attention
to detail, can take valuable time away from
addressing other more pressing matters/tasks.
5.Technology:
Although technology enables every notification to
seem urgent, technology itself isnt the true

OTHER CAUSES:
poor mental and physical health;
less life satisfaction;
higher levels of stress;
higher levels of emotional exhaustion;
less physical exercise;
higher likelihood to engage in problem drinking;
increased anxiety and depression levels;
poor appetite

TIPS FOR GETTING YOUR

WORK-LIFE IN BALANCE
1.Negotiate a Change with Your Current Employer,
Changes can include: flextime, job-sharing, telecommuting
or part-time employment.
2. Learn to Better Manage Your Time: Avoid
Procrastination. For many people, most of the stress they
feel comes from simply being disorganized and
procrastinating.
3. Learn to set more realistic goals and deadlines.
4. Let Things Go. (Dont Sweat the Small Stuff):Learn to let
things go every once in a while Learn to recognize the things
that dont really have much impact in your life and allow

5. Slow Down: Life is simply too short. Take steps to stop

and enjoy the things and people around you. Find some
ways to distance yourself from the things that are causing
you the most stress.
6. Be flexible: Change is imminent. Those who accept this
and work around change are the most productive, bestadjusted individuals.
7.Don't be a slave to your e-mail or to phone calls:
With Technological advances peoples expectation of
response has risen proportionately.
One needs 'downtime' to refresh mentally, emotionally or
physically.

8. Set boundaries and learn to say no:

Being a good employee, spouse, parent, and friend doesn't
mean blindly giving into everyone else's demands and
spending all your time and energy doing for others as they
dictate.
9. Establish good, supportive relationships, both at
work and home:
Give up the hesitation of knowing your colleagues better.
Its important to foster real teamwork and create an
environment in which employees respect and are willing
to assist each other.
