Joseph Stalin- Soviet Union


1878-1953

Communist leader (Russia went Communist after WWI).


Controlled every aspect of peoples lives.
Eliminated all competition to him in order to stay in power.
Hes legally to blame for the deaths of nearly 20 million citizens.
He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize twice.

Benito Mussolini- Italy


1883- 1945

Benito Mussolini was an Italian politician, journalist, and leader of the


National Fascist Party, ruling the country as Prime Minister from 1922
to 1943
Fascism includes intense patriotism & nationalism. This is very much
linked to racism and cultural superiority.
Mussolini didnt like Hitler initially. But Hitlers constant support
convinced him for an alliance with the Nazi Germany.

Democracy is beautiful in theory; in practice it is a


fallacy. You in America will see that some day.

Franklin D. Roosevelt
1882-1945

Stricken with polio in 1921. He became the 32nd U.S. president in


1933
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only U.S. president to be elected four
times. He led the United States through the Great Depression and
World War II.
FDR was the first president to appear on television.

The only thing we have to fear is


fear itself.

Winston Churchill
1874 1965

Was a War hero from his acts in the battlefield.


Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again
from 1951 to 1955.
Was close allies with US president Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Adolf Hitler
April 1889 30 April 1945

Nazi leader Adolf Hitler is known for being one


of the most evil people in all of history.
Responsible for starting World War II and the
Holocaust
Hitler was a charismatic leader that
successfully convinced the German people to
follow his beliefs.
Hitler endured and survived four years of
World War I. During this time, he was awarded
two Iron Crosses for bravery.
Ordered the deaths of 11 million in the death
camps, and 6 million Jews included in that
total.
Sooner will a camel pass through a needle's
eye than a great man be 'discovered' by an
election.
