Synchronization Guidelines
On choosing the time reference:
When an NE has many effective clock sources to select from, it will first
select the clock with the highest quality level according to the quality
level information of the clock source.
When the quality levels of more NE clock sources are the same, NE will
select the clock source for the minimum passed NEs according to the NE
quantity passing the clock source transmission path.
NE forwards to the downstream NE the quality level information of the

current adopted clock source and the quantity of passed NE via the S1
bytes,andsendstheunusablestatusinformationtotheupstreamNE.
Upstream NE is relative to downstream NE. If NE B extracts clock from NE A, then NE A is

the upstream NE of NE B, and NE B is the downstream NE as opposed to NE A.

Important Remark
The difference between OL64 and OL64E lies on the
mainboard transmission speed being used. OL64 uses
622Mbit/s while OL64E uses 2.5Gbit/s.
OL64 can not be used with CSE card.

OL16 provide one (1) standard STM-16 optical port and it
uses 622Mbit/s mainboard transmission rate.
OL16E provides four (4) standard STM-16 optical interface
and its mainborad transmission rate is 2.5Gbit/s.
