Flex Dollars
Problem: Flex dollars are mainly
used for food instead of other
necessities.
Flex dollars are complimentary
dollars that comes as an added
bonus with certain meal plans. Flex
dollars comes with plans U through
E and do not transfer from semester
to semester. They can be used at
Aggie Dining locations or at a
nearby Papa Johns.
Notice how the less meals you eat from the cafeteria, the more flex
dollars, and it is included in the tuition.

Problem Statement
The NC A&T students here on campus should have options with Flex
dollars, which should be used for every place on campus such as the
bookstore, laundry, the C store, the concession stands, and much more.

Purpose of this Study

The purpose of this study is to promote the idea of having a variety of
options to spend flex dollars on. College students face many financial
issues, not having enough money or any money at all. When you live on
college campus you need more than just food. You also need clean
clothes, toiletries, and more. Since its already included in our tuition
why shouldnt we be able to use flex on whatever we choose?

More options
Flex dollars are only used for food, but there should be other options
such as
Washer/Dryer
Football games (there and back)
Parking permits
Train rides
It could be more! But these are some of the main things we need flex
dollars for.

Resolutions
Keep Flex amounts as is and offer more eatible off-campus solutions.
Decrease flex and issue a reloadable debit card debit card to
everyone for use on-campus and select off-campus solutions. This
particular plan should provide a discounts when the debit cards are
used.
Combine our flex account with the SV&C accounts ( Vouchers and
Aggies Dollars) to use for everything on-campus and expand offcampus dining partners. Increase Flex dollars and develop a plan for
students to add extra flex whenever needed.
All solutions provided above will include transferable flex from
semester to semester

Recommendation
It would be best get rid of the extra accounts and include everything in
flex. Though the price of flex may increase, students would have the
liberty of choosing what they would like to use their flex for. The
university should increase the amount of flex with each plan and the
book voucher account will be combined with flex. Also, flex should be
transferrable from semester to semester.

The Plan
Flex will be increased on every plan by $222 based on four loads of
laundry, wash and dry, every two weeks. This is for every semester
for a total of $444 extra a year. Though students are free to use flex
for whatever reason on campus, the initial flex plan is intended to
be used for food, bookstore items, etc. The cost of books is NOT
included in the flex plan though flex CAN be used to pay for books.
In response to the drastic increase in flex, the meal plans WIll be
increased however this will cut out of pocket cost. Flex will be
reloadable online through increments of $5,$10,$20, or $50, or you
can visit our local Aggie One Card Center to deposit any specific
amount. Campus officials should compromise with partners for more
off-campus solutions. Flex is transferable from semester to
semester .
