Wall Street - Power Money Victory

Ethical dilemma: The banks knew that the loan which they were giving were risky
because the
loans were given for housing to the families who were not capable enough to repay it
Stakeholders: Financial institutions, Government, Credit rating agencies, Customers (loan
takers),
Whole population in the economy
Situation Factors: Housing sector boom, Competition among banks, Government Interest
Rate
Theory employed: Role Utilitarianism (Normative Theory)
In case the banks give risky loans, the banks and the credit agencies were benefitted but
at the same time customers and the whole economy suffered the The Financial Crisis. By
applying this theory, we can solve the ethical dilemma and come up with the solution that
the banks should not give loans.

Rests 4 component model

Recognize moral issue: The moral issue was the banks knew that the loan which they
were giving were risky because the loans were given for housing to the families who were
not capable enough to repay it.
Make moral judgement: After recognizing the moral dimensions of the situation, the
judgement of the banks should be not to give loans to the families who were not capable
enough to repay
Moral intent: The banks should not have pushed the commission agents to give loans
Moral behaviour: All the stakeholders should not have thought of maximizing their own
profit and act accordingly in order to prevent the housing bubble from the burst.

Parable of Sadhu
Ethical dilemma: McCoy had the dilemma of whether to stay back and help the sadhu taking
a
detour from his path or carry on with his goal to climb the mountain as it was his last turn to
climb it.
Stakeholders: McCoy, Stephen, The other trekkers, The sadhu, Sherpas, Porters
Situation Factors: Different cultural backgrounds in the group, last chance to reach the peak,
lack of leadership
Theory employed: Role Utilitarianism (Normative Theory)
We will use this as it says puts the life of a person at the highest priority. If you do not take care
of the sadhus life it will not only be the sadhu that suffers but this though will something that
will haunt McCoy and Stephen also in the long run as they will have the blood of the sadhu on
their hand.

Rests 4 component model

Recognize moral issue: The moral issue was to either stay back and help the sadhu or
continue on the journey to reach the peak of the mountain

Make moral judgement: After recognizing the moral dimensions of the situation we will
take the decision to stay back and help the sadhu to stay alive and get back on his feet and
also encourage others to do so as a collective help will reduce the time and everyone can
well be on their journey to reach the mountain peak
Moral intent: At a personal level it was the aim to reach the mountain peak and it was the
last time to do so and staying back to help the sadhu might get in the way. But we would
prioritize the moral value of helping another human as his life is at stake and prioritize the
moral values
Moral behaviour: We would stay back and help the sadhu. We will also try and convince
the other stakeholders to do so but it is the independent choice of everyone to make their
own decision as for the sherpas staying back would affect their daily business and respect
must be shown to all parties.
