1.Definition of Marriage
Marriage in our Society is a socio-religious activity
It is a mutual agreement between 2 dis-similar parties i.e
male and female for a meaningful coexistence and to
participate in the natural process of procreation for the
continuance of human race.
The four pillers of Dharma as per our Hindu philosophy
are:
Purusharthas
Houses (Bhavas)
Dharma =
1,5,9
Artha =
2,6,10
Kama =
3,7,11
Moksha =
4,8,12

2. Historical Perspective
As per the ancient scriptures, our sages described
eight (8) kinds of marriages which are as follows:1. Brahma
2. Daiva
3. Arasa
4. Prajapatya
5. Asura
6. Gandharva (love)
7. Rakshasa
8. Paichasika
Note:- Paichasika kind of mariage is a worst kind of
marriage.

3. Astrological Parameters of
Marriage Matching

The following are the broad astrological considerations while


considering the match for marriage purpose:
The longevity of the partners (male & female)
The strength of seventh and eighth houses
Matching of kutas between the two partners

Besides the above, modern astrologers consider the following


factors also for matching purpose:
Mental and psychological health of both male and female
Factors showing malefic influence on marriage related houses in
the horiscope

4. Houses to be Considered
The following houses needs to be analysed very
carefully for this purpose: (1/2/4/5/7/8/12)
1. First House:- Relates to physical comforts of the native.
2. Second House:- Kutumba stana deals with family and
its members
3. Fourth House:- Deals with comforts of a house where
one lives.
4. Fifth House:- Deals with progeny, i.e the natural
outcome of marriage.
5. Seventh House:- Deals with appearance, attitude of the
spouse and multiple marriages.
6. Eighth House:- Deals with longevity of the native.
7. Twelth house:- Deals with bed comforts

enemies, seperation from spouse and travel troubles.

members (spouse)

7. Concept of Mangala Dosha (Kuja Dosha)


Venus is the karaka for marriage
Mars is the karaka for power (fire)
Both these planets have significant role in
marital life of an individual
A bad position/association of Mars in a
horoscope is known as Mangala Dosha
If Mars is in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th from
Ascendant/Moon/Venus this Dosha is caused

8. Concept of Mangala Dosha (Kuja Dosha)


First house signifies body; second family;
fourth happiness; seventh spouse; eighth
longevity and twelfth bed comforts.
Position of Mars in these places witll
cause problems on these areas of life.
However there are antidotes or
cancellation factors which has to be
considered before pronouncing the final
results.

9. Results of Kuja Dosha


Presence of Mangala dosha in a horoscope
indicates marital problems such as delays,
hurdles misunderstandings, obstacles before the
marriage.
The post marital problems include physical,
mental and sexual incompatibility with financial
difficulties. It also causes mutual hardships in
the married life. There may be untimely death of
one partner or both.

10. Nullification of Cancellation Factors


of Mangala Dosha
Presence of Kuja Dosha in both male and female
horoscopes nullifies negetive results in their married life.
Position of Mars in 2nd House and the 2nd House is ruled
than Gemini and Virgo this dosha will be caused
otherwise, it is cancelled.
If the twelfth House with Mars and it is other than Taurus
and Libra this wil be caused.
If fourth House with Mars and it is other than Aries and
Scorpio then this will be caused.

11. Nullification of Cancellation Factors


of Mangala Dosha
If seventh house other than Capricorn and Cancer with Mars
this will occur.
If eighth house with Mars and it is rules other than
Dhanush/Meena this will be caused.
In Kumbha, Simha and Cancer, Mars will not cause any
Dosha.
Association of Mars with benefics such as Jupiter, Moon will
reduce effect.
Combust/Weak Mars cannot produce the Mangala Dosha.
Note: The classical references states that kuja dosha cannot
be entirely cancelled, however the intensity will be nullified/
reduced in the above circumstances. This is a matter for
research.

12. Remedial Aspects of Mangala Dosha


The evil influence of Mangala Dosha can be
reduced by observing the remedials as listed:
Fasting on (Mangalwar). In evening, Mars may
be worshipped.
Visiting Lord Hanuman Temple on Tuesdays will
reduce the intensity.
Reciting twenty one (21) times; for hundred and
eight days continuously the mantra of Mangala
chandrika.

Navamsha and Pushkaramsha


1. Importance of Navamsha
The importance of D-9 (Navamsha) chart: The Navamsha Chart is a divisional chard which
specially talks about marriage and marriage related
activities of a native.
Navamsha is 1/9th division of a Rasi, i.e 3 degree 20
min of each sign. There are 108 Navamshas in a chart.
Navamsha chart is used to assess ones spouse and
relations through the spouse, their well-being,
problems related in the marriage.
It also indicates planetary strength and weaknesses in
a chart.

2. Classification of Navamsha
Navamsha is classified as follows:1) The first classification is based on Dhatu, Moola and Jeeva
2) The second classification depends upon Deva, Nara and
Rakshasa
3) Navamsha is also classified as Shuba and Ashuba Navamsha
4) It is also classified as Vargottama, Mitra rasi vargottama and
Shatru rasi vargottama
5) It is also classified based on numerical numbers
(5th/8th/36th/56th/64th/72nd/88th/96th/108th)
6) It is also classified in Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha
Navamsha
7) It is also classified on tatvas i.e Agni, Pruthvi, Aakasa, Vayu
and Jala.
8) Some navamshas are also known as Pushkara Navamshas
as distinct from Pusharamsha

3. Pushkaramsha and Pushkara Navamsha


The term Pushkaramsha can be understood in
two ways (Pushp+karam)
Pushp means to nourish, foster, rear, bring up,
augment, enhance etc.
Karam means who makes or causes; a ray of
light, beam.
If any planet is in Pushkar Navamsha then one
may predict good results in Natal horoscopy.
Pushkaramshas are particular degrees in a Rasi.
This is explained below:

4. Pushkaramsha and Pushkara Navamsha


Pushkaramsha: It is a particular degree in each sign (12 signs). It is also known as
pushkara Bhaga. The Pushkaramsha degree is an auspicious
degree and is used in fixing auspicious Muhurtas for good activities.
In total there are 12 Pushkaramshas in 12 signs (Rasi).
Pushkara Navamsha: Pushkara Navamsha is a Navamsha that is an arc of 3 degrees 20
mins in a sign which is very auspicious. There are two
Pushkaramshas in each sign totalling 24 Pushkara Navamshas in
zodiac.
A planet in Pushkara Navamsha is always auspicious and gives
very good results. The following table in te next slide will give
Pushkaramsha degree and Pushkara Navamsha, in the zodiac.

Planets in Pushkarmashas are far rarer as compared to Pushkar
navamshas.
