The unsolved

murder of
JonBenet
Ramsey
By: Andee Woodard

History of the family

JonBenet Ramsey was a six year old girl. Who lived in Boulder Colorado.
She lived with Mother Patsy, Father John, and Brother burke.
The Ramsey family was an all american family, wealthy, living in a huge house.
JonBenet was a young beauty pageant queen, but she was just a normal little
girl (Adams).

The Crime- History

It was December 26, 1996. Patsy woke up to find her daughter missing from her
room
Patsy found a detailed ransom note demanding a lump sum of money in trade
for their daughter.
Patsy made a frantic 9-1-1 call claiming Jonbenet was kidnapped.
Later that day John, the father, found JonBenet dead in the basement of their
home.
Many people were in and out of the house before JonBenet was found
tampering with the scene (Murr).

The ransom note

This is a copy of the ransom note left at the Ramsey home. Some of the things that
stand out are the amount of money asked for, $118,000, the same amount as the
raise that John just got. Also there was many spelling errors (The Forensics
Outreach Team).

Theory Number One- The Parents

JonBenet's parents were two out of the three people home at the time.
Patsy and John were angry at their daughter for wetting the bed once again,
and in a fit of anger bashed her head into something hard.
They thought covering it up would be better than admitting what they did.
Patsy wrote the ransom note on the paper that was already in the house.
It's very convenient that the amount of money needed was the same amount as
Johns Christmas bonus.

There were no footprints found as a sign of an intruder (Lovitt).

Theory Number Two- The Brother

This is the most widely talked about and accepted theory of them all.
This is called the pineapple theory because it says that Jonbenet ate a piece of
pineapple that Burke was having for his late night snack.
He got mad and struck her with the flashlight found on the kitchen counter.
They think this because there was undigested pineapple in the stomach of
JonBenet and a gash matching the flashlights dimensions.
To add to the fact, he was very smiley during a tv interview when talking about
his younger sister.
The parent helped him cover it up by putting on the rouse (Lovitt).

Theory Number Three- An intruder

Although it is one of the least popular theories it is an obvious option.
The biggest piece of evidence is the ransom note. This could have been written
by anyone at any time.
The second biggest piece of evidence is the basement window being left
unlocked and open this is an easy place of entry for the intruder to come in and
snatch JonBenet out of bed (Lovitt).

Conclusion
The most plausible theory is that the brother killed his little sister in a fit of
anger and his parents covered it up so their son wouldnt has to face
consequences.
If the the family was not ruled out back in the 90s they probably could punished
now.
As you can see in this video the brother is still acting weird in this interview 20
years later (Lovitt).
