POLITICAL CRISIS OF MIC

BACKGROUND
The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is a Malaysian political
party and is one of the founding members of the ruling
coalition, Barisan Nasional
The MIC was established in August 1946
Now MIC has joined the National Alliance

What is the issue arise??


'Arbitrary' move by Former MIC President Datuk Palanivel
Govindasamy
MIC internal crisis arise because the decision of the Registrar
of Societies (ROS) to cancel elections for the current post.
So, RoS assigned G. Palanivel to do a re-election days.
But, G.Palanivel refused the instruction ordered by RoS.

ROS did not recognize the appointment of Kumar and other members.

M Saravanan and CWC member P Kamalanathan called on Mr Palanivel to


hold an emergency meeting to resolve the outstanding problems and avoid
from being derigistered.

Organizations who have disputes among members or office bearers and


failing to obey with a notice under Section 16 (1) as mentioned under
Section 13 (1) (c) (ix).

RoS issued a letter that urge Palanivel to immediately resign from all posts
held in MIC and hand over the leadership to Dr S Subramaniam.

G.Palanivel is going against the decision of interim CWC to follow the RoS
directive and proceeding to drag the RoS to court

According to article 91 of MIC constitution :


" Every member shall be bound by the decision of the Central Working Committee
in matters relating to his rights, obligations, duties and privileges as a member of
the Congress. If he resorts to court proceedings in respect of his rights, obligations,
duties and privileges or on behalf of any other member or in respect of the
rendering or meaning of the provisions of this Constitution without first referring to
the Central Working Committee or in violation of any decision or directive of the
Central Working Committee he shall ipso facto cease to be a member of the
Congress and shall not be entitled to exercise any of the rights of a member.

Datuk Seri G. Palanivel had effectively and officially sacked himself from MIC
when he violated the party constitution by taking legal action against the Registrar
of Societies' (RoS) without the support of CWC members.
