HMI Example:

Manual control level functions

Monitoring & control of signalling equipments:

Points: position change, block control

Train routes: set/cancel

Signals: reopen

Axes counters: active/de-active

Track circuits: active/de-active

Platforms: hold train, terminate dwell, skip

stop

Train departure timer: dwell time

ATP area control: TSR, GAMA (driver-less

project)

etc

Manual control level functions

Train tracking & identification:

Moving block

Fixed block

(e.g. UrbalisTM CBTC system)

(e.g. UrbalisTM 200)

Continuous transmission of train

position and identification via
bidirectional radio communication

Track occupancy provides additional

information on train position (in case of
radio communication link cut-off).

Train localisation based on track

occupancy information delivered by
the interlocking system and the
Positive Train Identification (PTI)
delivered by the ATP/ATO system

Manual control level functions

Train tracking & identification:

Advantage with CBTC:

In moving block system, a track sector is divided into several small sections with train indicator,
which provides more accurate train position than track occupancy.
The detailed number of train indicators will be defined according to the requirement of the metro
revenue service.

Manual control level functions

Train tracking & identification:

Train identification code comprises of:

Train group number
Train service number
Train trip number
Train destination code

The dispatcher can edit the train identification code.

Manual control level functions

Train control:

Train waking up/sleeping/standing by (driver-less project)

Train operation mode setting (driver-less project)

Train ITAMA setting/cancelling (driver-less project)

Train door control

Train movement control

ATS - Level 2 Operation

Automatic control functions
Automatic Route Setting
Automatic Train Regulation
Online Timetable Management
Automatic Train Operation Control

Automatic control functions

Automatic Route Setting:

Fleet route
The function is used for the intermediate passing route. The route is set in spite of the train
destination code.

Cycle
The function is used for the turning back route. The route is set in spite of the train
destination code.

Automatic route
The route is set automatically according to train destination code and timetable.

Automatic control functions

Automatic Train Regulation:

S cheduled
Regulation

Scheduled regulation (normal mode):

Stick to planned departure and arrival times at stations ; regulation compensates

disturbances through adjustment of train dwell times on station platforms and inter-station
running times (train speed),

Equal Headway (degraded mode):

If the trains cannot stick to schedule, the ATS can maintain a constant headway between
trains defined by the operator.

Automatic control functions

Online Timetable Management:

The operator selects one basic schedule as the in-used schedule every day.

The operator can modify the in-used schedule:

Insert a new train / Delete a train

Add new trips / Delete trips

Modify the dwell time

Modify the inter-station running time

Offset trips

The history data can be displayed on the screen with the different color from
the in-used schedule.

The dispatcher can print out the basic schedule, in-used schedule and
history data.

Automatic control functions

Online Time Table Management:

Automatic control functions

Automatic Train Operation Control:

Exit from stabling track in the depot/stabling yard according to the online
depot/stabling yard in-out schedule (driver-less project)

Wake up the train.

Set the depot/stabling yard train operation mode.

Grant the Individual Train Automatic Movement Authorization to the train.

Assign the train destination code to the transfer track.

Send the train movement command to the train.

Revenue service (main line On-service)

Set the mainline on-service train operation mode at transfer track.(driver-less project)

Assign the new train service number, trip number and destination code at transfer tracks
and turn back tracks.

Control the departure time and arrival time.

Automatic control functions

Automatic Train Operation Control:

Enter into stabling track in the depot/stabling yard according to the online
depot/stabling yard in-out schedule (driver-less project)

Set the depot/stabling yard train operation mode.

Assign the train destination code to the stabling track.

Send the train movement command to the train.

Put the train into sleep mode or standby mode after the train stops at the stabling track.

Automatic control functions

Automatic Train Operation Control:

Automatic train shunting (driver-less project)

Send the train movement command to the train according to the train destination code.

Automatic train washing (driver-less project)

Send the washing request command to the washing machine.

If the washing machine is ready, send the train movement command to the train.
When the train stops at the washing line, set the washing train operation mode if needed.
Send the washing cancel command to the washing machine after the train exits from the
washing line.

ATS Support functions

Support functions
Alarm & Event management:

Alarms and events are displayed to the operators, and logged in the
historical database to allow report generation.

According to the affection to the signaling equipment and train running,

there are three kinds of alarm level: A, B, C.

The following events are included:

Signaling equipment state changing
Train state changing
User operation
Etc

Support functions
Alarm & Event management:

All events entering into a server may be recorded for future replay:
All events coming from interlocking, ATC and other sub-systems
All operator controls

Any operator workstation may have access to playback function.

Offline functions
Traffic simulator for test & training:

Complete simulation system is able to

simulate the interlocking equipment and
train movement.

Used in dynamic mode when the

simulated equipment reacts to the
controls transmitted by the ATS

The teacher can add or delete trains or

simulate the equipment failure on the HMI
of simulating application in order to
accomplish interactive training.

The simulator can speed up or slow down

the train running in some ratios according
to the timetable.

ATS sub-system

Traffic simulator

Degraded mode

In case of one of redundant equipment failure:

Automatically switch over to the standby equipment.

In case of CATS failure, LATS server and CI work well:

CATS failure is displayed on the local HMI. The local operator can switch control to the
emergency local control. According to local timetable, train ID, train location, LATS can
automatically set route and control dwell time. The local operator also can manage the
train identification, control the signal, switch, route, hold train and terminate dwell.

In case of LATS server failure :

The local manual controls relative to the CI are still available. The local operator can
control the signal, switch, route, hold train and terminate dwell.

Backup OCC

When the main OCC is used to supervise and control train running, only
the supervision is available in the backup OCC. The control is not
permitted until it has been authorized or if the main OCC is not
operational.

When the main OCC recovers, it can take over the control by
authorization.

The switching of the control between the main OCC and backup OCC can
only be performed after the password verification.

The function in the backup OCC is as same as that in the main OCC.
