What are the eight steps of the

Engineering Design Process?

1 identify the problem. 2 researching the

problem. 3 creating solutions to the
problem. 4 selecting and refining the
solution. 5 modeling the solution. 6 testing
the solution. 7 communicating the solution.
8 improving the solution.

What is a Design Brief?

Design brief- the problem statement is one

part of the document includes the criteria
and constraints

How are solutions created?

Ideation is to develop as many ideas as

possible and by making a graphic
organizers you can keep your ideas
organized. Rough sketches is to get ideas
onto paper. Pictorial sketches show the
object as it would look to the eye.

What is rendering?

What is a model and what is its purpose

in the engineering design process?

Models can be used to communicate ideas,

experiment with concepts, and organize
data.

What is the difference between

a mock-up and a prototype?
Mock ups are appearance models that show
how the object will look in real life
Prototype are physical models that actually
function and test how well the design will
work

What is sustainable design?

The design and creation of products in ways

that are less armful to the environment and
the people who use the products than the
processes used in designing and creating
standard products
