conflict, (the battle for land in
1948). The influx of refugees
then caused an ethnic divide,
(all the different ethnicities in
different parts of the country).

party) Pierre Gemayel, The
attempt was done by the Sunni
and or Shai Muslim groups in
Lebanon. This led to the
Christian gunmen killing 27
civilians on a bus to promote
clashes between Muslim and
Christian forces, leading to the
start of the war in 1975.

Question
The influx of refugees is
the main cause of the
Lebanese Civil War.
Because even though the
influx of refugees is a
short term cause, it was
the beginning of a chain
of events. All leading to
the Lebanese Civil War.
The ethnic divide caused
the Maronite Christians
(located all over
Lebanon) to fight over
land with the Sunni and
Shai Muslims ( located in
the south and east of
Lebanon). The influx of
Palestinian refugees
contributed to the Muslim
population of Lebanon,
making the Maronite
Christians over populated
by Muslim Arabs.
The Sunni and Shai
Muslims then attempted
to assassinate the leader
of the Christian
Phalangist group. This led
to the massacre of 27
civilians on a bus.
