Project background

Township completed Township Act 209 Traffic Study in 2005


Township developed priority list for intersections identified
in study
Intersection improvements identified at Cowpath Road and
Orvilla Road noted as #1 project
Conceptual Design and Traffic Analysis started in 2008
Project added to the PennDOT Decade of Investment in
2013
Township secured grant from PA DCED for preliminary
design in 2016

Intersection Improvements

Realign the existing offset signalized T-intersections to a


four-legged signalized intersection
Removal of the spilt phase traffic signal and Installation of
new traffic signal for realigned intersection
Installation of a Cul-de-sac for Old Orvilla Road and
access to Realigned Orvilla Road (SR 1004).
Installation of sidewalk along both sides of the realigned
Orvilla Road (SR 1004)
Installation of ADA complaint curb ramps (project-wide)
