I press on toward the goal for the
prize of the upward call of God in
Christ Jesus.
The Call to be Holy
The Call to be Fruitful
The Call to be saved
This is the call that God makes to all
people through the gospel. This is a
call to believe in Jesus, repent of
sins, be baptized in order to be
forgiven or to receive the Holy Spirit
and the eternal life that the Spirit will
raise us to after we die.
This call is expressed in a lot of
different ways in the Bible. The
biblical terms 'be saved' or 'come
The Call to be Holy
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by
the mercies of God, to present your
bodies a living and holy sacrifice,
acceptable to God, which is your
spiritual service of worship. And do

not be conformed to this world, but

be transformed by the renewing of
your mind, so that you may prove
what the will of God is, that which is
good and acceptable and perfect. -
Romans 12:1-2
The Call to be Fruitful
1"I am the true vine, and My Father
is the vinedresser.2Every branch in
Me that does not bear fruit, He takes
away; and every branch that bears
fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear
more fruit.
- John 15:1-2
The call to be fruitful is the parallel
call to find one's reason for being in
the Kingdom as opposed to one's
reason for being in the world.
The Call to be Fruitful cont.
3For through the grace given to me I
say to everyone among you not to
think more highly of himself than he
ought to think; but to think so as to
have sound judgment, as God has
allotted to each a measure of faith.
- Romans 12:3
For just as we have many members
in one body and all the members do
not have the same function so we
who are many are one body in Christ
The Call to Be Ready
The call to be ready defines a Christians
expectations in this life and this brings us
back to Pauls claims in the book of
Philippians.
Yes, I still live and breathe on this earth
and experience life in this physical world
but the eyes of my heart and the hope of
my soul are firmly fixed on the upward
calling that I affirm each day in the way I
live my life.
The Call to Be Ready cont.

But do not let this one fact escape your
notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day
is like a thousand years, and a thousand
years like one day.9The Lord is not slow
about His promise, as some count
slowness, but is patient toward you, not
wishing for any to perish but for all to
come to repentance.
